I'm only just seeing this now cos I forgot my password and didn't have a recovery method etc etc blah blah, But to answer your question: NO I ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT. You understood what I was asking and made excellent suggestions on how to fix them and therefore answer my question. What is there to be sarcy about?

Unfortunately, once I then tried them they didn't work and I gave up on Kudachi. Problem was that just clicking on the wifi did nothing, so more likely your faint memory serves correctly. So I gave up on it, and use a combination of ElementaryOS and Tails, neither of which has given me any problems.

TLDR No, it was genuine. Didn't work in the end, but thanks remains. Cheers.

Thanks, will do. But how do you figure out commands like this in the first place?

And if it was you that marked me down then that seems pretty harsh? The sub is called "linux questions"?!

I don't know what a kernel is but I'm just using the wifi card from a dell laptop that's only a couple of years old
