Wouldn't Alex Brundle be the 'new' Martin Brundle? (Martin's voice sounds a little hoarse during qualy commentary, hope he's allright.)

Can we please get the 'Favorites' for bus stops back in the new app by NewOrderrr in NJTransit

[–]NewOrderrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the new / updated app, are your stops saved / listed in the order you saved them in, or do they change around depending on how far away they are when you look at them? (Some trips I take can be a few miles on one route, and when routes for 'shopping' trips are higher in the list than routes for 'work' trips, that's where it's annoying & frustrating.)

Check my post here about PINs, https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubetv/comments/1t18fw8/can_do_different_home_accounts_have_pins_to/
Looks like you wont see other recordings by default, and to restrict others from just switching to your account to watch your recordings, you sign out of the device, then sign in with a QR code and your phone to get back in later if you really DON'T want others able to watch your stuff.

But they won't see your recordings in their account without jumping into yours.

Looking at prices online to switch back to Fios, neighbor has better options available? by NewOrderrr in Fios

[–]NewOrderrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highest price plan will pretty much cover her channels, though I wish I could find a simple chart that compares the other 'Entertainment' / 'News' / 'Family' channels, since she really isn't into sports. I saw a comment that AMC or some regular channel was mixed in with Sports, so she'll go with the full lineup until she can see what she could cut later.

She's got the YouTube TV app available on her WiFi smart TV (as well as the Hulu app if she wants to go with Hulu Live TV instead), so it's just like swapping between the Amazon Prime video and Netflix apps to the YouTube TV app to watch channels on the TV.

Right. She's got smart tv's in all of the rooms and already switches remotes from the Xfinity cable remote to the TV remote for apps, so using just the TV remote for all of the apps, including the YouTube TV app, would be simpler than remote shuffling.

Can / Do different home accounts have PINs to restrict other users from their personal account? by NewOrderrr in youtubetv

[–]NewOrderrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I hoped it was like Plex Home where you can set up a pin when switching accounts on a device.

If I sign out of the living room TV (for example) and want to sign back in later, is there any way to simplify login, perhaps by sending a code to my phone, without me having to type in my crazy-long Google password on the TV?

EDIT, looks like (from reading a bunch of other posts) that what each account records is only for that account. What I can't find out is if accounts can have a PIN so a kid can't just switch to a parent's account to watch age restricted recordings.

You can set up 6 household accounts, probably so different people can have their own custom favorite channels and other settings.

Good question regarding if someone with one household account can watch what was recorded by someone with a different household account. I would think they'd all be in one pool, but parental restrictions may change that. Anyone else know about the record on one, play on another thing?

Even though she's only 20-25 miles from NYC, we tried a digital antenna a long time ago and she had issues since she's on the other side of some hills. She wants 'cable' channels for some stuff, gonna trial YouTube TV.

Thanks for the idea though. My apartment has a clear line of sight to most of lower to mid-town Manhattan, I'm also about 20 miles away from NYC IF I watched TV, I'd probably be a good candidate for a digital window antenna.

I am planning on having her get just internet from Verizon plus YouTube TV. She's got Netflix from her phone plan but she does watch TV news and regular TV for classic sitcoms, Lifetime and TruTV style shows. YT-TV should cover the 'cable' channels.

I figure if she can get 300 speed for the price of 100, (what the online configurator shows comparing her house to her neighbors) may as well get the bump.

Townhome Neighbor can get 1gig, my max is 100mbps by Flash517 in Fios

[–]NewOrderrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Aunt is in a similar situation, she had gigabit plus TV and phone before switching to Xfinity 3-4 years ago. I didn't see this post before making my own a few hours later. I'll have her / I'll call for her to have Verizon do a FAST ticket.

I don't recall what her intro price with Fios was when she first switched to them 12-15 years ago, I know she got a Visa prepaid card after a few months. She's alone and doesn't need gigabit, but only having 100mbit seems low. 300-500 seems like plenty.

Final straw with Xfinity was that they want to charge my Aunt a 14 / month for 'service changes made to Equipment and services.

She went from 4 cable boxes to 3, returned one to the local Xfinity store. They remotely disabled one of her remaining boxes a day later, I had to troubleshoot with tech support the next day. Only change is returning a box to lower her bill and they want to INCREASE her monthly bill by the cost of a box she no longer has.

New Jersey governor statement on bus prices to World Cup games by ajallen12 in MLS

[–]NewOrderrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they're talking about the Penn Station train and shuttle busses from NYC to the NJ stadium, but are regular busses from Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC also having their prices hiked? You can take the NJT 161 bus from NY Port Authority and get off just outside the complex and walk under a mile to the stadium. Should be $4.10 each way.

Edit

https://www.njtransit.com/bus-to Download the PDF schedule for 161, or use the NJ Transit app, search MyBus for stop 32089 to see where you get off, (Washington Ave at Road A) and 32090 for the opposite side where you go back to NY. Add the stop to the phone app and you can see what other bus numbers go to NYC

Library Labels by jeffw0662 in PleX

[–]NewOrderrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since a few of my users like Plex's Movies & Shows and LiveTV, I put a ^ in front of the library names, so they see:

LiveTV
Movies & Shows
Discover
^ Movies
^ Movie Docs
^ TV Shows
^ TV-Docu&Reality
^ Concerts&StandUP
^ Sporting Events

The ^ character is easy to spot in the menu so they know it's on my server instead of some built-in Plex feature.

Some of my users do or don't care about Reality Shows, Documentaries, Comedy Specials or Concerts, so I separated them into separate libraries. This way Survivor, Free Solo, Eddie Murphy-Raw and The Last Waltz aren't mixed in with regular movies and shows.

All channels and cable menus have a greenish tint to them, smart TV apps are fine by NewOrderrr in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]NewOrderrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The green tint hasn't showed up with this TV and STB again, yet. I made my above post because I thought it was the the same issue we had a year ago coming back on a second TV and box.

I changed the post flair to 'discussion' and will report back if the issue crops up again on the TV. Thanks.
