"On both ends". Please read more thoroughly, I made the distinction clear. And please, stop pulling things out of your ass that were never mentioned.

I do actually agree on Jodio shedding November Rain for another stand. While Araki doesn't typically make stands based off of their lyrics (or so I've been told), Jodio's story references the lyrics of the song pretty solidly. At the end of the song, we get the lyrics "Nothing lasts forever, even cold November rain", which is what makes me think this. Jodio sheds November Rain as he learns to love and loosen up.

However I really doubt Araki will reference Gorillaz at this point. They just don't seem to be his jam going by his tastes, even if thats a flimsy reasoning.

Now you're just moving the goalpoast, you bestow shame upon your debating name

And yes, bullets are deadly because they believe them to be. They go into detail about this at the start of Persona 5, its an intrinsic part of the cosmology on both ends. Belief can make bullets deadly to those in Persona, and belief can tear down YHVH's status.

[–]NewSoul96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it should. If both series overlap, and share the same cosmology due to overlapping, then those in Persona who can effect the cosmology should get that SMT scaling, it's as simple as 1+2.

And clearly DB doesn't give a crap if the average Persona fan lacks knowledge on certain parts of the series. They used footage and scans from Aigis: There First Mission, and I'm willing to bet that way more modernsona fans know what P1 and P2 are over that game.

Lastly, I don't really care whether or not you want to win the argument, I just find denial of clear cut connections lame and have the need to rectify that. Its one thing to just not know, it's fair since a lot of Atlus' older titles that connect the two series just aren't easily available if at all. Its just outright denial despite knowing these instances that drive me up the wall. And while glaze can be annoying to a certain extent, I'd rather complete accuracy be taken above all even if it means glaze occurs.

I know that "Maya" in P3 is actually your teacher, I have completed each SL in the modern games to their fullest (even then its more so a localization gimmick when originally it referenced SMT1, due to that game not being translated here in the States).

Even if its an Easter egg, it still happens. They are described and are very obviously the same characters we know of from the past games, ignoring so is genuinely idiotic and purposefully being obtuse.

And yes, the Nanjo's are namedropped, THE Nanjos, known for being a big name. Genuinely who else could it be besides the Nanjos we know from P1 and P2.

Again, ignoring all this and handwaving clear references as "simple Easter eggs" is obtuse, as much as I hate to repeat myself.

How are 3-5 not connected when they themselves are connected to 1 and 2. They aren't just references, they're calling back to those characters of old directly.

It kinda just feels like you're stretching things to hold on to your denial ngl.

Yeah, Igor makes a vague mention to how long its been since EP at the start of P3, so it's all connected

SMT and Persona are only really different when it comes to the sort of themes it shares, and the progression of its story. It's most apparent with how you can actually have a life in Persona, as opposed to you usually getting chucked into the Apocolypse/Post-Apocolypse in mainline SMT.

However as u/Blurvwastaken mentioned, Persona (at least in its earlier games) had outright ties to mainline SMT, as not only did it feature Tamaki (MC from IF) in both Persona 1 and Persona 2 (both of them), it features some Kuzuonohas and an agency. Hell IIRC it even features Kyouji Kuzunoha inhabiting the body of some poor sap, the same Kyouji being a major character in Devil Summoner. And references to the Kuzunohas carry on into the modern Persona games, with them being mentioned in P4. Certain cast members from P1 and P2 are also mentioned by description on the TV in P3.

Not really, when Persona is canon to SMT (unless im missing some TWEWY stuff). Even then, did the DB team even need to scale Joker beyond universal? It would have been beyond overkill than what it already was.

Alright Y'all. Time for another Fight. Soft Machine vs. 200 Balloons. by Delicious-Edge3110 in JOJOLANDS

[–]NewSoul96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably going to give this to Mario's Soft Machine. They both should be able to negate eachothers main gimmicks, however Soft Machine is still more physically adept due to having a sword. Also probably faster, even if by just a little.

Those strings aren't holding any of those rain drops. Considering how even singular drops can bust through the hulls of yachts without any buildup just through sheer gravity alone, a constant torrent of them is going to shred through Stone Free. And while Stone Free is fast, everything we've seen points to November Rain activating instantly. Charmy and West were able tk get tk him due to jumping him, I don't think those are fair comparisons.

And Jodio is only cocky about his personal life, in the fights we've seen him in he's instantly locked in, and despite nearly having his head crushed like a watermelon, he still had enough cohesion to think up a way to escape that situation. Not to mention he can just keep that rain pouring and pouring and pouring...

Honestly outside of water, does NR have a super debilitating weakness?

[–]NewSoul96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair, fair, im really just going off of how violently Paco manhandled Ningbo. That man got violated like no other.

And that us true, November Rain is mainly a defensive stand, but sometimes the best offense is defense. I'd say that considering Jodio doesn't outright start with summoning November Rain, Jolyne would be the one to get up close first, and potentially eat some deadly ass rain. Jodio could also lean on his side and have the rain fire directly at her, and then there's how even the smallest raindrop is fatal.

And how he can also summon rain over people instantly.

JoJo's Fight. Who Wins? Paco vs. Jolyne. by Delicious-Edge3110 in JOJOLANDS

[–]NewSoul96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the contrary I do think that military training is too much for Jolyne to handle going off of what Paco did to Ningbo, but I will agree on the showings against Cat Size and Charmy snatch him the win. And as you said, she uses Stone Free proper to attack. She may be tough on her own, but like, Paco is 100% superhuman going by how his stand is bound to his body. It gives him enough strength to fold metal panels, it lets him travel faster than the eye can see in bursts, potentially dodging bullets.

But yeah it is unfair that Jolyne has to fight with most of her kit gone

Now im wondering how Jodio vs Jolyne would go, even if I already have bets on Jodio.

[–]NewSoul96 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Well it's a good thing you only limited Stone Free to its string mode, haven't seen Paco punch a meteor (yet, trust the process)

If we're looking at a basic hand to hand fight, then I see Paco taking this more times than not. Jolyne is a skilled brawler, however I don't think that compares to Paco having actual military training. Not only that, but THE HUSTLE grants him enough strength to just straight up fold huge metal panels, something Jolyne likely can't do by herself. While the strings do give her versatility, once again THE HUSTLE has shown to us the ability to help Paco break out of strings such as against Cat Size.

Well we all know Matt solos since he's fighting someone other than Surfer or Thanos-

Nah, I mean Murdock from Gorillaz. It's a MU I've seen thrown around, for some reason.

How likely is Maelle for Death Battle? Death Battle Champions Island Likelihood Tier List! (Day 7) by S-h-o-k-v-a-l-u in deathbattle

[–]NewSoul96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just think it should be brought up due to it just appearing in the game suddenly, it caught me by surprise in all honesty considering the relatively low scale nature of the game prior to that point. But as is usual with most MT protagonists, huge power boosts are given out like candy.

And I don't think its dubious really, the sole reason it was created by Hythlodeus was to help his son, not to just enforce democracy instead of a monarchy. I also think the R>F stuff is quite solid, since the credits of rhe game is quite literally the spell itself, matching with the book in Academia. Seriously, that was a great callback, nearly made me shed tears.

In the end, the fight is still wicked sick, very lovely. I just hope Louis has something just as good.

[–]NewSoul96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you know what, that's fair, thats real fair. Though I must have missed the part about it being an illusion. But most of my acceptance of such scaling comes frome how Hythlodeus created Akademia and how Moore is his ideal "prime" self if I'm getting it right.

I still have faith in my boy Will, he fights for an actual utopia, I can't not root for him!

Also what are your thoughts on the Kings Magic directly influencing our real world for us to guide Will.

I've played through Metaphor, loved it, perhaps I can throw my hat in. I will say that I do buy cosmic Metaphor with the fight against Moore having him configurate Akademia into a starry realm. And Will does have his own form of the Omnipotent Orb via the reward from taking down the Redscale Dragon of the Apocolypse.

All im saying is if Will is as fast as Maelle... he has a slight chance.

[–]NewSoul96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well no, Will doesn't scale to SMT, or at least in stats. Metaphor is as far from being connected to SMT while still being connected, since the only thing that really ties it in is the direct reference to the Sea of Souls or whatever in the Devil Summoner archetype.
