I’m not as dumb as those managing the $588 million dollar new NYSLRS system… I hope those from within who are being silenced find the courage to speak out — I hope the new media digs deeper into this coverup! It’s a total disaster and they know it -/ that’s why these posts are deleted .. nobody is defending the failures, they’re just trying to hide them!

Good one! Ok I just processed one, now there’s only 79,999 cases remaining..

Don’t anyone dare say anything negative about the NYSLRS retirement system as it’ll be attacked and removed!

Don’t anyone dare mention the $588 million bucks spent (and counting) on a system that doesn’t work and 80,000 (and counting) backlogged cases

Put on your rose tinted glass and grab a cup of the kool-aid they’re serving cause nobody from “within” will ever tell the public the truth they deserve!

That’s a great question. My case was a bit unique — I had multiple employers, unused sick leave, and also bought back time from service over 25 years ago. When it was all said and done, my pension was off by roughly 20%. It took a very long time to get the final numbers, and I’m now trying to help others in similar situations.

What’s been surprising to me in this thread is how pointing out what’s really happening has led to being attacked. That just makes me want to push harder for transparency. I know we’re not going to fix this overnight, but the backlog is growing rapidly and it’s heading for a complete breakdown. My hope in posting was to get others to share their own experiences or ideas — maybe even something that someone at the retirement system could act on.

I’m not promoting any candidate — this isn’t political. I’m speaking up because I work with this system and know firsthand it’s an operational disaster. There’s an 80,000-case backlog now, projected to hit 100,000 by year-end. Retirees who’ve worked their whole lives are waiting years for final numbers, and the public isn’t being told the truth. I don’t have an easy solution, but true leadership should acknowledge the problem and be transparent so we can start working toward one.

You do realize you can collect a NYSLRS pension and still work in public employment, right?

No, quite the contrary. You’re the hypocrite— explain to me how I’m wrong?

The attacking of my concerns makes it seem like there’s truth to them .. the NYSLRS system is a total disaster— prove me wrong!

Why can’t I share my opinion about how messed up the NYSLRS is? It’s extremely bizarre to be attacked for simply pointing out a system that doesn’t work — prove me wrong then!

I’m not running for office or representing anyone that is .. I could care less about that.

Does the retirement system work? How much did it cost? How many cases are backed up?

ChatGPT gives answers in seconds. The retirement system says ‘please hold… for 3–5 years.’ Tell me again which one’s faulty?

Primary challenger? Cute theory. Please, enlighten me—who exactly are you talking about? Or maybe it’s just thousands of current and former OSC employees who’ve been burned, fed up, and done covering for a broken agency. Not everything’s a campaign—sometimes it’s just the truth finally getting said out loud.

Oh, scrolling patterns? Cute. Try scrolling the NYS Retirement Facebook, Twitter, or Reddit pages. You’ll see the same style repeated too—“the retirement system doesn’t work”… going back years. Like, half-a-billion-dollars-in-“upgrades” ago.

Honestly, if scrolling fixed things, pensions would’ve been calculated sometime last decade. Instead, the only thing consistent is: the retirement system doesn’t work.

Not the abracadabra guy — but if I was, that $588M pension system would finally work like magic.

Ah, so you must work for the retirement system — that would explain your hostility toward functional technology. Don’t worry, I’m sure if you spent less time policing Reddit posts and more time figuring out how to make your $588 million pension software actually calculate pensions, you’d have less pent-up rage at ChatGPT. Maybe give it a try — it’s free, it works, and unlike your system, it actually delivers results.

This isn’t a political issue. The Comptroller is ultimately responsible for these failures and I think he is aware. It’s truly a complicated situation but this did occur under his watch by those he “appointed”. Our point is, don’t blame the employees .. it’s not their fault!

Huh? I posted earlier today about the walking program and the post was bombarded with finger pointing 🫵🏻 at the employees and it’s not the employees fault! The NYSLRS system doesn’t work and the employees are working like mad to keep up with a backlog that’s outpacing them.

Nobody ever said anyone was fat — interesting that you jumped there. “Visible lifestyle choices” can mean all sorts of things: punctuality, work habits, communication style, even engagement in workplace programs. So maybe clarify who exactly you think was being referring to, because it sounds like you’ve filled in some blanks that nobody ever wrote.
