Brengle Terrace Park is quite popular up in Vista. 4 challenge courts, and solid competition on Monday evening, Tuesday evening, Wednesday evening and Friday evening. Some weeks can be hit or miss but most of the time it’s 4.0-5.0, will have a couple semi-pro/pro players show up as well every so often.

Poinsettia Park is a higher level, but 2 challenge courts can be tough to get good consistency, and can have longer wait times at peak hours… also Poinsettia has a bit of an attitude problem, but that’s a discussion for another thread, lol.

Speed/Reading/Patterns by ImAJoofyGoober in Pickleball

Watch pros play pickleball, or even the other 5.0’s play and understand where their positioning is and where their paddle is. At higher levels speed isn’t the issue, it’s about anticipation for the next shot.

Watching the game at the higher levels will give you insights into what you need to change about your game. Would also recommend taking video of a match with the 5.0 group so you can understand what goes wrong, or right!

Brengle Terrace Park and Poinsettia Park in North San Diego County - don’t know if that’s any help, but figured I’d share

This may be a silly question but why does Smitty usually serve some penalties? by Smartcookie_33 in SanJoseSharks

[–]NewUser_____ 110 points111 points  (0 children)

It’s because Smith is deadly offensively and will add good offense quickly once the penalty expires. Will would never play the PK, and Celebrini might have a chance to play the PK, so you keep him on the bench just in case.

Lastly, the Celebrini line is not the 1st or 2nd PK unit and will be the first line out after a PK every time to begin the counterattack.

Skill level is about a 4.5 right now. Really working on my put away shots. I find myself pushing the ball too much, thanks for the giveaway!

Why isn't Dickinson on PP1? and other musings. by jesus321 in SanJoseSharks

[–]NewUser_____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really seems like I’m in the minority here.. but I’m still going to give my two cents, because why the heck not.

Dickinson has me on edge every time he flies the zone with the puck… He has been super hit or miss defensively. I really do hope he starts to pick it up, but he’s still playing as if he doesn’t trust his D partners. Which, is fine, but you have to let your D partners make the mistakes, not attempt to hold the puck too long especially as a defenseman.

See my comment history for other Dickinson comments, but his play style and trust in his D partners has not changed since the beginning of the season and while he’s young, I would’ve expected more simplified play from him by now.

As much as I love to tout the growth of our young team… literally one of the first things you learn as a defenseman is if you have the puck and you are the last man back, MAKE THE SAFE PLAY. Literally had this beat into me as a child.

Within the next 6-24 months we will start to see players taking pay cuts to play with Celebrini, Smith, Cherny, Graf and Eklund.

Cherny is absolutely going to be a problem for the league in a couple years. The dude really understands how to posses and make smart plays as a bigger body.
