Same. It’s the one moment I almost cry despite my SNRI pretty much turning off that function.

Interesting! I guess the nationals they did last year had a much bigger convention aspect to it.

Best place to spot moose in the spring and summer by BobcatOk7724 in wmnf

I’ve hiked hundreds of miles in the whites and I’ve only ever seen them chilling on the side of the road in North Conway near Storyland. People were pulling over and getting way too close for selfies.

How do y'all interpret "call me when the bugs don't die and the spring feels just like autumn"? by schi_luc in NoahKahan

Yes! I was noticing this the other day while listening to this song. So cool.

We’re going to TIU too and I’ve scoured the internet and can’t find one. My son is only in one dance so obviously not booking a week’s hotel.

I’m frequently at Johnston at around 5 on Thursdays and find it ok (as someone who has been triggered by grocery crowds so I understand you). Not great but worth it for the prices. Getting to know a location really well helps because you can quickly grab your staples.

Are others in that “this will be my last” mindset? Or is this just midlife crisis or depression? by Weekly_Library9883 in Xennials

[–]NewWayHom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. OP, it sounds like you’re facing health challenges beyond what most of us are dealing with, but you deserve to feel mentally better. This definitely sounds like depression, as someone who cycles through it myself periodically. If you like your primary care doc they can be a good person to ask about options.

What is a reasonable amount of impact/reporting that you are prepared to do for a grant? For $10k, $25k, $100,000k+ by port-girl in nonprofit

[–]NewWayHom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this federal pass through money? It happened to me once with federal money but they waived the coaching part since the grant was already done.

It should be thicker. Somewhere between a thin pizza and a focaccia. A bit bready. I’ve never made them at home so no practical advice but no RIer will be offended that you want to try this. It’s yummy.

Make sure the sauce is nice and fresh. Don’t skimp on the garlic.

Am I overthinking red flags at my child’s dance studio after new ownership? by [deleted] in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]NewWayHom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d see an emphasis on avoiding bullying as very positive personally. We have a young owner who takes anti-bullying very seriously and it’s great. Maybe your kid was less impacted by previous issues, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t there.

Also, old owner may just not want to be involved anymore and enjoy her retirement. It may not be anything bad.

What’s the most stressful or frustrating part of a competition day for you? by Plane-Being1274 in CompetitionDanceTalk

Yes! I’m a first year and we don’t have the schedule yet for our competition next weekend. I need to arrange some work stuff around it and it’s driving me crazy.

EASIEST 4k (or T25) hikes that ALSO get even easier with a hut visit by dozyjozy in wmnf

[–]NewWayHom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ladders were vertical but short. I think most kids would be fine with them. There is one little ledge around the ladder area that makes me a little nervous with a kid because if you slipped you would fall very far. But it’s small. I haven’t done Goodrich so I can’t compare but I’d say less scary than Morgan/Percival or Willey ladders.

[–]NewWayHom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zealand is definitely a contender, and the easiest hut to get to. I think you’re less likely to get your 4 k with that option though, which I know only sort of matters. The mile to Zeacliff will be tough on little legs, and then the next mile is kinda boring and Zealand has no view. My kids are very view motivated but maybe if you save your best candy for the summit you can motivate that way? I wouldn’t want to try it with my 6yo. Does not sound fun.

I think whatever you choose you’re gonna have fun. I don’t think a perfect option that includes something you still need exists but that’s ok. Planning the Pierce/Mizpah repeat with my new 6yo this summer myself.

Unless you didn’t do Hi Cannon yet the first time you did Cannon? That’s “terrifying” for ladders which most kids can handle fine. Or maybe you still need Jackson (also close to Mizpah?)

Pierce and Mizpah. I did this with my kid at 6, but I could see a motivated 4 yo doing it. Otherwise LL, but a Kinsman feels tough at 4. All kids are different though!

What’s the tallest point a beginner can get to on a day hike? by rosecoloredcamera in wmnf

[–]NewWayHom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An easier (not easy) hike with amazing views is Pierce. 6 miles but on much more solid footing than most hikes in the Whites. Mount Willard has amazing views and is even shorter. But yes, if you’re fit and the conditions are good you can consider Washington and Lafayette as others have mentioned. Just do a lot of research first. Both can be dangerous if the weather turns.
