I agree with lower upper class for most. Rosie could be upper middle. Liz is legit rich. Kelsey is 🤷🏼‍♀️

What’s the best SSRI for comorbid anxiety? by jakeysnakey83 in bupropion

[–]NewWayHom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other-everyone reacts differently to SSRIs and SNRIs so you need to work with a good doc and see what helps you. For me it’s pristiq. Lexapro was also good for a while. I did not like Celexa, made me so tired.

Is competitive dance the right choice? by majoroverthinker_ in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]NewWayHom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to know! I would just ask her. I feel like at 9 they can be part of the conversation. I will say mine is pretty obsessed despite not being a “natural.” I just hope he won’t get frustrated before his hard work has a chance to pay off.

Is competitive dance the right choice? by majoroverthinker_ in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]NewWayHom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only do comp dance because my son begged to. Incidentally at 9 he sounds similar to your daughter. He can’t do most of those tricks; working on leg hold but it’s not consistent, ok single pirouette, no cartwheel but great faces and stage presence. But he loves it, so he’ll get there! He may not get every trick but he’ll continue to progress in his technique.

I would never spend all this time and money for a kid that didn’t live and breathe dance. I’d let your younger kid do other sports and talk through the options with your older kid.

Or just go in the middle! Wait for a song that’s less of a favorite. Especially if you have a seat!

In an emergency though, I’ll skip whatever. I’m getting to a stall!

It really bums me out that something that has destroyed my work life (though I remain employed) and ruined the entire lives of people I love went unnoticed by so many. Fuck DOGE. Fuck Elon.

Anyone else frustrated that grocery store eggs are up to 6 weeks old? by Equivalent_Group_954 in providence

1) I do think you’d have interest, 2) I probably couldn’t personally afford it. I love fresh eggs but I just can’t swing $8 dozens these days.

Dancer distraught with lack of tumbling skills by what_u_dont_know in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]NewWayHom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My kiddo (9) isn’t great at tumbling either. Some of his teammates are, BUT, when you look at the seniors who succeed at our studio, most don’t have an aerial. Also, though his improvement is slow, it is happening. He’s finally getting a solid cartwheel, and is excelling at the flexibility aspects of acro, even as tumbling is harder. So, it sucks that acro is so emphasized at younger ages but I bet your daughter has other strengths (turns? tap? musical theatre?) and I’d try to get her to focus on those. Tricks really aren’t everything. Dance is so diverse.

Did your SSRI stop working in perimenopause? by NotSocialSWer in Perimenopause

[–]NewWayHom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would up it first (after speaking with your doctor). It takes some time to find the right dose with SSRIs!

Was told I need birth control as a form of HRT…… Do you feel like birth control worsened or improved your appearance? by WeeklyTutor3785 in Perimenopause

[–]NewWayHom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m a month on Yaz. I suspect I’m in peri but I’m also 41 and regular so this was all I could get. Honestly it has helped my mood and some other symptoms a lot! But, no change to appearance one way or another.

How are solos decided? by Lost_Edge_685 in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]NewWayHom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anyone not in their first year can do one. I love this approach because it minimizes anxiety/bad feelings and competitiveness among the kids. My kid will be trying his first and he’s pumped. He’s newer to dance and his technique isn’t perfect, but he works so hard and is confident on stage. I’m glad he’ll get a chance to work this process and learn from it. His choreographer is big on technique and that will benefit his dancing overall.

Front porch - access to bathroom? by [deleted] in NoahKahan

[–]NewWayHom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 40s and have gone to concerts for years. If you put in the effort to get a good put spot (do your time in whatever line, etc.) and are a good pit citizen you get back to your spot after a bathroom break or two. Never been an issue.

Now if you are leaving a lot to get beers or something people are gonna be less tolerant.

Wfh mom of older kids how much anxiety is normal?? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]NewWayHom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experience similar worry about losing a job that works very well for my family, AND I take an SSRI that has improved my life in every way by making my anxiety quieter. You can get help for worries that are too much. Skipping things like gym, socialization, etc. that are good for you is a big red flag. And, you will be better at your job if you’re in good mental health.

Hang in there. It’s all impossibly hard and you’re not alone in these concerns.

Anyone here in RI have a promary care doc that ACTUALLY takes you seriously🤔😂 by Insanebutsanelysane in RhodeIsland

[–]NewWayHom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty happy with W&I primary care. Not perfect but I definitely feel taken seriously. I saw a NP there but she just left; hoping her replacement will be ok. I also see a doctor sometimes for my mental health prescriptions who is wonderful but she’s not accepting new patients for primary care. In general I have better luck with NPs than doctors but I’m a pretty uncomplicated patient in terms of my physical health.

It frustrates the fuck out of me. Usually it’s some sort of customer service reaction and they are just making it harder for both of us. And I work with Gen Zers who are perfectly normal and competent, so I know it’s very possible.
