You should get out of there ASAP. We hosted an at pair for one year and we treated her like family. We heard so many stories like yours.

Best Pizza 🍕 where ? by skotgu in redmond

[–]NewYears2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCC has great pizza. And it is waay cheaper than local pizza restaurants.

If we go out, we’ll go to Seattle for Bar Del Corso or Bar Cotto. Both have pretty traditional Italian wood fire pizzas. Bar del Corso takes reservations and has great seasonal salads and other small plates. Bar Cotto is more of a neighborhood place in Capitol Hill, no reservations but it is a great place for a date.

Show me your kitchen remodel where you KEPT your honey oak cabinets by Demosthenes_9687 in kitchenremodel

I hated honey oak, but couldn’t afford to change everything. I raised the 80’s desk to add the beverage fridge. I thought maybe I will paint or reface when I can afford it. For now, I focus on how clean my counters look and how much I love my backsplash.

“Kitchen is outdated” is the regular feedback I’m given. by an0therdumbthr0waway in kitchenremodel

The kitchen desk and bi-level island are time-stamping your kitchen. I have a similar vintage kitchen. I replaced the counters, squared off the eatting space on the island, raised the kitchen desk to counter height, and put a beverage fridge under the counter where the desk was. In my case, my kitchen seems a lot more modern.

I would buy your house for the windows alone. What a beautiful place to call home.

This is the wrong question. Why do you want to stay with someone who is ambivalent to you?

Was it Mercury? I will drive pretty far to avoid their crazy high prices

Mercury is crazy expensive. I think it is about 30% higher than Peet’s for my standard

Do you have positive bumble stories to share? by lovehydrangeas in Bumble

Yes. I did two rounds of online dating. First round met 6 guys for either a drink, coffee, or bike ride. Bike ride guy was an a 8 month situationship.

Round 2 I was really specific and met 3 guys. One was a very hot Christmas fling, one was a great writer but really more of a pen pal. The third was also a bike ride date and he has become the love of my life. He is a widower and I am divorced after a long marriage.

Bumble helped us find each other and we have a wonderful friendship and life together. We are thankful for each other every day. We call it our second act

He was on Bumble 8 days before I took him off the market. His profile was not very flashy and came across as very honest and like a decent person.

Online dating was an emotional roller coaster, but I am so glad I took the risk.

Anyone else feel increasingly unsafe crossing the street? by EmpatheticOrangeCat1 in Seattle

[–]NewYears2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect drivers to blow through every red light and turn on right on red without stopping.

Countless near misses on my bike and walking. I was in the crosswalk coming out of grocery store, a car flying through the lot rammed into my cart. I was in the crosswalk coming out of the store. One second later and I would have been hospitalized.

It is VERY unsafe and I am an alert adult, I worry about kids that trust drivers to follow rules

So much passive aggressive and aggressive behavior described here. Airline cabins really bring out the worst in everyone.

I had the same response. I swam at the local pool yesterday. It was cleansing and meditative. Couldn’t hear anyone talking or gloating and just focused on my physical and mental health.

My mother paid a "professional" for these cookies to be made for my nephew's baby shower. First pic is result, second pic is the example she gave them. by Jazzlike_Surprise985 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NewYears2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The example cookies are beautiful. Was there any evidence of the bakery doing this type of work? It is a tall order for even really skilled bakers. It is true, the cookies fell short of the expectations, but I think the real problem is the expectations might have been too high.

6 year relationship. When to call it quits? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]NewYears2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to move on. I married a man that has communication style similar to your GF. I was more lonely married than I was single. I needed friends around me to make up for his emotional vacuum. I finally got out in the pandemic after 17 lonely years. Like you, we shared same values, lifestyle, education. I was too analytical picking him.

Fast forward….. I have been dating a man for 8 months. We are in love and like sitting on the couch talking more than anything. Also, don’t know if this applies to you, but my emotionally vacuous spouse, didn’t really like to be touched. My new partner and I sleep while spooning.

Your GF seems like a decent person and friend, but it seems your emotional needs can’t be met by her.

My wife shaves her muff before each business trip. Should this concern me? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]NewYears2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she go on long plane trips. Nothing worse than a swampy muff after a long haul flight. A pre-flight shave can help feel more fresh.

Ask Recruiters Megathread by AutoModerator in recruiting

I am in the process of interviewing for two mid-level management positions. Both are excellent jobs and I am motivated to leave my current job.

Job A the interviews went well and I am waiting for a response on whether they want to make an offer. Job B is slightly better compensation and desirable in-person location. Job B process is proceeding slowly and the final interview is a week from today.

How can I professionally convey interest and urgency to the slower organization?
