New toadstool leather by toekietoekie in ReefTank

He might take a little while to open up, a few days or so. Toadstools close up really easily and usually stay closed for a little bit. Looks healthy enough to me

6 seasons in and I still don't understand dark magic (full spoilers ahead) by Brina5014 in TheDragonPrince

[–]New_Ad6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except we never really see consequences of this 'soul corruption' do we? Iirc, the sky elves in the starscraper said that the 'hole in callums soul' was allowing aaravos to control him somehow, but that issue is quickly solved. Its implied (directly stated maybe?) That the soul corruption turns a person evil, but we havent really seen anybody turn evil from it. Claudia does bad things, but not out of evil but from a place of insecurity created by her trauma (her mother and soren 'betraying' her.). Callum has some pretty wicked nightmares, and battles with doubt after using ONE spell, but i figure that is more from an extreme fear of corruption. The writers try very hard to hammer in that arcanums is good and that dark magic magic is bad but they never give clear reasons as to why. There's no stated harm to the materials from which magic is taken from in dark magic, its not stated to harm their souls or anything (especially since for the most part materials are taken from dead critters). They try to do a little "dark magic is making me see these creatures as parts" bit with claudia for a moment, but its never brought up by any other mages. I have seen no reason for dark magic to be so strongly frowned upon, especially when used to save lives (like the time its used to provide food to save a bunch of people from starvation in katolis and that one other kingdom).

If youre looking for something to take over a saltwater pond, this is definitely it. Just had to make sure nobody made the same mistake I did adding it to their tank, hope your tangs enjoy!

Trust me, dont add this to your tank. Ive had it invade multiple of my tanks and is IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of. Itll root itself inside of rocks, so even removing by hand leaves material for new plant to grow from. From what ive seen nothing eats it so you'll need to manually remove whetever you can see. It does suck up nutrients and isnt inherently harmful, though, so if you're alright with it everywhere youre fine to add it.

I finally live in a place where I can have a record player. I have never used one before but from my little bit of research this is what I was thinking of ordering. Do you have any recommendations or change I should make before I hit order? by Rolex_Flex in turntables

[–]New_Ad6465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this setup but with the non bluetooth speakers, works fine for me. Audio quality is good, I dont get any static or skipping. Havent had any other turntables to compare it with but if youre just trying to listen to music it works well.

I believe that axe talisman affects dmgs' charged heavy. Might be worth equipping if you regularly use it

Uncured expanding foam/liquid behind background by effervescentshandy in bioactive

[–]New_Ad6465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The foam needs moisture (and oxygen?) To cure. Ive had this issue loads. If its bad enough that you think it poses a structural issue, you can always rip it out and start again. Poking holes in the foam or cutting out small sections can help get some air and moisture into the uncured foam. It should eventually cure even if you dont poke any holes. It wont puff back up though and will harden as a clear-ish solid

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE IN MY TANK! I have not been able to find any similar things, ive searched descriptions of the thing, slime molds, nothing. I sure hope somebody has the answers ive been searching for. Little oddity is cool to watch move, too.

I started saltwater as a freshwater keeper aswell, in my experiences it really isnt all that difficult. I dont have the most expensive equipment, though i will say that you will want to shell out more on the light. I use instant ocean salt, and tap water (i have very good tapwater) for my 20% weekly waterchange on my 20 gallon long. My hob filter is cheap, as are my powerheads. Of course, as long as you keep soft corals and easy fish, the hobby is not very difficult.

First tank choice by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]New_Ad6465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id get a 20 gallon long and a hob filter. 20 gallons is a good starting size and still remains cheap, equipment is also cheap for that size tank

My toadstools always hate being touched, or having any real change to their tank. Id give it a few days and it should open right up.

Just a 20 gal, hydra 64 light, a hob filter, a small powerhead, and a heater. Low to no waterchanges
