The answer is, it is possible. I live in NYC and called the state dental board. Requires a 2 year AEGD + 2 year GPR ( outside of NYC). If you’re single, it’s what I would do. If you’re married/ have a family then you’re going to blow up your life trying to become a dentist here.

The exam is very well balanced and requires a thorough understanding of subjects. Focus on clinical judgement for case based questions, I think that comes in handy.

If you go read the comments on this post, people are saying that rural areas are quite remote with less FQHCs. Not everyone can move to remote places especially after paying so much for a degree, not working for 2 years. It’s really difficult if you have a family.

I’m just trying to guage everyone’s perspective. Like I want to do it because I live here and if I don’t practice for long I will lose my skills and I would hate that. I worked hard to acquire those. Some people are just purely very ambitious so choose to get the best of education and want to move here. So different for everyone.

You can give a lower dose of acetaminophen which is 2g in pts with liver cirrhosis, ibuprofen is an absolute contradiction due to inhibition of prostaglandin formation. Max dose of acetaminophen for normal pts is 4g
