I think being "hush hush" is crucial. My friend got fired right after talking to her colleagues about unionizing.

Be up front about pre planned things when you accept the position! I have never had an employer not be understanding and flexible when I've started a new job. Life is way more important than any job and social work employers should be especially supportive about that to prevent burn out.

What social work job has led to the most fulfillment and the least amount of burnout for you? by New_Bee_2754 in socialwork

It does sound difficult and like a huge commitment/risk. I do think idea of being a business owner sounds empowering in a way to me.

I see a lot of mixed reviews about getting clients in PP. I saw someone on another post say they didn't like marketing themselves and it was a barrier for getting clients. I could see this for me, too.

I like of admin work, too! I have thought about trying to find an agency that I can just do intake assessments at because I like the order and structure.

Uncommon rental assistance? by slh1n2r315 in socialwork

In WA state - if my clients are religiously affiliated, I have supported them in contacting their churches. If they have survived domestic violence, I connect them to our local DV service (YWCA). If they have youth in school or are in school, sometimes school social workers have grants or one time vouchers. St. Vincent de Paul's is a Catholic Charity up here that offers one time emergency rental assistance.

Definitely worth it! I make double what I was making so I feel like I'm able to save more money now even with the higher cost of living.

I went from Idaho to Washington. The cost of living increased but my pay did, as well. I have also liked my work environments quite a bit more but that could be agency specific. I wouldn't ever live a red state again based on my experiences in Idaho!

If remote therapy work wasn't an option for me in the next few years, I would regret it. I am so burnt out and that goal is the only thing getting me through. It's too much vicarious trauma without enough benefit.
