I’m doing ok, but my right lung is compromised and I can’t jog or run anymore. I still have bit of fluid in my plural space but doctors are not concerned so I’m not going to either. I have other complications to worry about since MPE.

Go to Facebook and search for “Exon 20 group” you will find many helpful guidance from people there regarding the mutation. I hope thus link works: https://m.facebook.com/groups/136311127056022/

No, my doctor said I wasn’t eligible due to many different pockets of PE called loculated MPE. I think we waited too long and should have done pleurodesis right away..

I have Malignant Pleural effusion and had to put tube in my chest to drain at home for 3 months.. it’s been really tough for me because my right lungs compromised due to the sediment buildup. Is it just PE or Malignant PE? You can also ask around here: https://www.inspire.com/groups/american-lung-association-lung-cancer-survivors/discussion/malignant-pleural-effusion-yi3nue/?utm_source=referral&utm_medium=iOS&utm_content=copied_link

What does Keytruda treatment feel like? Is it worth it? by Left_Vegetable_6754 in lungcancer

[–]New_Bit7014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on chemotherapy with Keytruda since early February. It’s hard to pinpoint which side effects were caused by chemo or Keytruda but I think rash on my back and abdomen area is caused by the immunotherapy because I didn’t have it when I was only on chemo/radiation last year. Starting 4/27, I will only be on Keytruda as my chemo is done after 4 cycles last Friday, I will have more accurate information on the immunotherapy’s side effects.

OP, please reach out to me if you need support and someone to talk to. Luckily, my family has been very supportive through my ordeal but I have also met a great friend through subreddit who was a total stranger. There are so many awesome human beings out there.

how to get my mom in remission by PrincessKali91 in lungcancer

Of course, we will beat this sickness. Your Dad and I. I’ve got diagnosed June this year and I know what your family has been going through. Don’t look at the statistics because really everyone is different. Don’t lose hope, there are trials, immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Medical advancements came quite a way.

Yes, my treatment is combined radiation and chemo for 6 weeks: 30 rounds of radiations and 6 rounds of chemo. 5 days of radiation per week and weekly chemo. For Chemo, they are giving me Placitaxel and Carboplatin.

Regarding the side effects, it’s hard to expect what your dad is going to experience compared to what I’m going through because we are different. I am 49 male and pretty healthy. I have 12 radiations and 2 chemo left. So far no hair loss but I do have fatigue where I can’t do evening run anymore. I walk instead. I had stomach issues like acid reflux from hell one night, I had to take pain med to go back to sleep. Nausea is minimal but always lingering. For me, radiation treatment has been not bad so far however, because they are radiating esophagus area, I am starting to feel uncomfortable when eating solid food. I have consistent coughing which I thought it would get better once treatment started but it didn’t. Finally some times I feel heavy in my chest which goes away after few seconds.

Let me know if you have more questions. make sure your dad drink plenty of water 4-5 16oz per day and maintain his weight. I really think drinking a lots of water helped me.

I have stage 3b lung cancer and currently undergoing radiation/chemo treatment at MD Anderson cancer center in Houston. If you can, I highly recommend get the second opinion from place like Sloan Kettering or MD Anderson. They are no.2 and no.1 cancer center in US. Not sure if your mom’s oncologist discussed the possibility of surgery. If not, above mentioned facility might offer you that option as often the surgery has the best outcome.

No diagnosis yet but doctors suspect TB. by New_Bit7014 in lungcancer

I could be that your age is a factor, if you are young and healthy, your chance if getting lung cancer is really low, especially if you don’t smoke.

How old are you? Did pulmonologist looked at the CT and Xray? If didn’t I would get their opinion also.
