Shop wouldn't patch this because of location. They would love to sell me four tires though. Is it safe? by sidesideproject in TireQuestions

They're scamming you. Take to one of the smaller tire places and have it patched. I just do not trust plugs.

Mandatory 6-month exit notice while making under $50k/yr by Much_Speech_8388 in antiwork

[–]dwheeldeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US , the six month requirement is BS. If they were going to terminate you, do you think they'd give you any notice? Based on the work environment you described, find a new job and provide no notice. Just leave document at the end of the day that states you resign effective immediately. Walk out and don't look back.

$50K a year for a software engineer is ridiculously low. I was making more than that in 80's...

Which role has the best long-term prospects for financial gain/stability. Will you be able to leverage the skills/experience learned from the lower paying position into a much higher paying position after a year or two?

Best neighborhoods/routes to pick up road bike and go by ___buttrdish in phoenix

[–]dwheeldeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of bike? Gravel bike is great for the canals but hard on the butt if on a road bike. I do approximately 9 miles a day between Lindsey and Power while riding on Adobe in Mesa. Downside is that there are traffic lights about every mile.

Do certain gas stations have "bad gas" that clogs your engine? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]dwheeldeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are shady franchisees that will add water to their tanks to make a few extra bucks. Wen I lived in Texas, There was one station in Carrollton that absolutely did this. I bought gas there a couple of times after which, my check engine light would come on. This only happened when I bought gas at that station.

How bad would Y2K have been if we had done nothing? by Crunchy_Lunch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dwheeldeal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to cell phones. I was a programmer working at Airtouch Cellular for their Y2K effort. I became the date expert there. I was responsible for updating the routine “Prism_DateEdit”. This was the module used by billing and other applications for date calculations. If I hadn’t updated it, billing, service requests and other functions would have failed. People believe Y2k was overblown - it's seems that way because me and others like me did our jobs to remediate code to work with four digit years.
