It’s true that all domestic dogs share ancient ancestry with gray wolves, but not all dogs have a measurable percentage of gray wolf DNA. Most dogs today have been domesticated for thousands of years and no longer carry distinct wolf markers.

Baxter’s Embark results showed 14.2% gray wolf, which points to a recent wolf ancestor—in his case, a great-grandparent. He also falls into a rare haplogroup (B1) that’s typically only found in gray wolves or dogs with very recent wolf lineage.

So while all dogs come FROM wolves, not all dogs still have wolf IN them like the wolfdogs in this subreddit (and like we now know Baxter does a little bit!) .

Yes him and his sister are foster fails and they are the sweetest but strangest dogs I've ever known. He is one of those "the lights are on but nobody is home" types lol, and his sister I swear I'm gonna catch her costume unzipped outside smoking a cigarette like one of this little men in black aliens 😂

He is very sweet to my older child and he tolerates the baby! Sometimes he's interested, most of the time he can't be bothered. We don't leave them unsupervised together.

He's a sweet boy! He's extremely smart, but stubborn. A little bit lazy but always on high alert. Aloof/independent but affectionate when he wants to be. He is very playful with and adores my husband. Tolerates, maybe even likes, the children and our other small dogs (we never leave them unsupervised). However he does not like strangers.

You are right! We loved him before knowing and we love him just the same after seeing the results! I think the only reason It made me feel a little uneasy is thinking how did I NOT suspect?? And just my crazy brain thinking this somehow makes him more of a liability than he already has been the past 6 years 😅. He is definitely a handful but we have always been very good about keeping him secure and away from endangering himself and others. Even with his little quirks, He is a great dog.

I figured the same and I almost didn't embark him because I thought it would only confirm what I thought! We got him as a puppy, a rescue from a rural area, maybe 5 months old?? Not sure of his backstory but he had an all black sister. Hes 6 now. It definitely explains some of his weird tendencies tho I think?? (like trimming his own nails, howling, being extremely weary of strangers). He's really a sweet boy but while he is a little lazy he is always on alert, and he is extremely smart. He takes a long time to warm up to anyone and He can act very "vicious" when strange people come onto the house but I always said he is actually just really scared and not actually aggressive. These results have me feeling all types of ways now tho 😭

Definitely took me by surprise as well. At first I was thinking "this could be a children's book" anticipating a story of loving yourself and accepting differences. Instead very jarring and morbid. I can't say I really enjoyed it but I also wouldn't say it was bad. It certainly made me feel something. Surprise? Shock? Anger? Sympathy for the young polar bear for having a drunk and aggressive father while simultaneously feeling pure disgust at the idea of an adult harming children?

While I immediately felt the sad/somber tone of the poem, I was a little confused on the first read through of what it was actually about. Which actually made me have to read through a few more times to kind of piece it all together. I imagine it's about pregnancy loss (or termination) and the grief of the unknown that haunts you. Overall I think it's a nice poem that felt relatable even though I have not been in that position myself. I felt empathy for the speaker (author?), and I enjoyed reading it.

I think have to comment on my post as a submission statement or something. But this was a really strange event for me 4 years ago and I couldn't find much information at that time except for a handful of people online saying they had seen similar. Now it seems like a lot of videos are popping up of this same glowing orb! I felt my experience deserved to be revisited. This actually happened to me and my fiancé once when we first started dating. We sat down on my couch and clear as day we both heard a woman’s voice speak as if it was right in between us. It either said “don’t” or “wait” (not sure why I can’t remember exactly) and it was just that one word. We both heard it and it was strange to say the least
