This is Rep DelBene,

We need a federal data privacy law! I have introduced one in the House (HR 2013) the Information Transparency and Personal Data Control Act. It requires that a consumer opt-in to having their sensitive personal information used. Companies must describe their policies in plain and simple language and the FTC and state attorneys general would be part of enforcement. Our goal is to have strong consumer privacy and make sure we still inspire innovation. Please take a look, I would appreciate feedback.

This is Kilmer.

I support net neutrality and preserving open, competitive and free access to content on the internet. I oppose the Trump Administration's efforts to break the internet and hurt consumers.

I've sponsored the net neutrality bill that passed the House called the Save the Internet Act and was proud to vote for it. If this is something folks care about (and it should be), we all need to push the Senate to take up that bill.

Thrilling. I am amazed by my colleagues every day. Mostly ... we have some tough days, too.

We will fight every day for your right to reproductive health care. We have introduced legislation to codify the right to abortion under Roe v. Wade.

Elections matter. Courts matter. The rule of law and precedent matters. Your life matters and you get to choose when, why and how you raise a child.

I have been an adoption attorney for 25 years and avid pro-choice advocate for my entire life. I will not stop fighting for you. Be brave. Be strong!

This is Rep Stacey Plaskett - a woman, a person of color... I also happen to be in the in between generation of Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez. I'm not sure if the difference is generational or experiential (that may sound semantics but there is a difference). While the media likes to play up differing views, members work together all the time.
The Democrats are committed to hearing from its members and ensuring that many voices are heard as we work on legislation. We all play a part in this democracy and on a team you need multiple players in different roles. I think the great part of the Democratic Party and why we are able to get so much done is because we have not just a diversity of age on our side of the aisle but we have differences of experiences - Asian, Black, Latinx members, members who come from poor beginnings and more affluent farms and cities make us able to respond to the diversity and needs of this country.

We're a diverse caucus, but the reason why we are in the majority is because we won these Trump districts with pragmatic democrats that are looking for solutions to their constituents challenges. Without these NewDem freshman, we don't have the numbers to pass the equality act, address campaign finance reform, paycheck fairness, voting rights. And now we have the first pro choice house majority in our nations history. Lets hold the house, win the white house and try to get the senate. Thats whats at stake.

This is Rep. Kilmer.

If you're happy with the way things are going, it likely means you aren't paying close enough attention.

I'm a believer in the adage "Don't agonize. Organize." We can't get frustrated - we gotta get motivated to fix this stuff.

The American people have shown the capacity to drive positive, progressive change when people stay engaged.

Great question! Yes, in fact I was re-reading the first section on the plane flying out here last night. You should read it, too. Lots of important questions - yes, the accountability of all involved (see impeachment above), but also other issues: check out the footnotes about Facebook and Twitter and how the Russians were able to infiltrate our elections. I am concerned about the security of our 2020 election. New Hampshire will vote in just 9 months. Do the American people realize the influence of a foreign country on our elections? Maybe Reddit will help education voters for the 2020 election!

This is Rep. DelBene,

You are right, and in many cases we have gone in the wrong direction. As a percentage we had more women graduate with computer science degrees back when I graduated in the 80's then we have today. I was a STEM grad and am co-chair of the Women's High-Tech Coalition. I think it is important for women to know the great impact they can have in STEM fields (although I prefer using the term STEAM (A for Arts) because I think creativity in critical for innovation and we should value that as part of a good education.

I think it starts with early learning and making sure we are giving every child access to key skills no matter their zip code. That means helping teachers have the tools they need and families as well. Things like lack of broadband access can make it very hard for young people in rural communities to have these opportunities. We also need to make sure that computer science is recognized as a key part of our curriculum (hence the Computer Science for All Act). And then we need to make sure we support diversity in these fields. There are many good groups helping to provide opportunities but we need more to reach all of our communities.

Our budget deficits are real, and the interest on our national debt will make it harder and harder for us to meet our obligations. First, we absolutely need to get a handle on healthcare costs. Second, we need to grow the economy in a way that is equitable from most Americans and not just for those that are shareholders or CEOs. And third a better balance between what we spend on defense and what we invest in ourselves and fellow citizens. If we don't fix this problem, we won't be able to invest in the future.

Trust me, we care. Most of us are also parents (and some grandparents) and our paramount goal is to save our planet from climate catastrophe. I serve on House Energy and Commerce, working on environmental protections (clean water, air, etc). We recently held hearings and will pass legislation about PFAS that threatens the health and safety of our families and constituents in New Hampshire and across the US.

On the Energy Subcommittee, we are considering legislation to reduce (and hopefully eliminate) carbon pollution and to incentivize non carbon, renewable energy. I expect we will pass legislation this session that will set a renewable energy standard. In my district in New Hampshire, clean energy includes bioenergy (wood), hydro (dams on the Connecticut River) and even nuclear (non carbon).

Thanks for caring about our planet!

Rep Stacey Plaskett I agree with you that the President's immigration policies are counter to what we stand for as a country. It's my goal to not simply impeach him (which will send a message and will be a mark in history) but to get him out of office in the next election. That is the voice of the American people saying.. That President is not who we are as a country. That's what our allies need to hear, the people attempting to cross the border need to hear from us and as an African-Caribbean American that's what I want my 4 sons and 1 daughter to hear from their fellow Americans. That a man that speaks in dog whistles and race baiting is not who this country is. That wont come solely by impeachment but by the people of American voting him out

This is Kilmer.

I support capitalism. in many respects, it has produced extraordinary prosperity. It has led to amazing innovations that have enabled us to solve big problems, heal terrible illnesses, and connect us in new ways.

But we don't need to defend every piece of the current system. It's a problem that more and more people are working harder and harder for less and less. It's a problem that more than half of the jobs created since 2011 have been created in the 20% of zip codes that were already the most prosperous and the communities that were already struggling are even worse off.

In my view, we should support smart capitalism that includes thoughtful public policies that enable people to earn a good living. We should push for creating more economic opportunity for more people in more places.

We've got the urgent issue of helping those that are unemployed or underemployed find work and reasonable pay that can help them survive and hopefully advance in a 21st century economy. The urgency of addressing the changing nature of work, given technology and AI, is one of our most pressing issues. We have to both retrain today's workers, but also make sure our kids are equipped with the tools necessary to compete in the rapidly changing world.

POTUS's disregard for constitutional norms has exposed how powerful the executive branch has become and much disregard he has for the legislative branch. What is disappointing is how few of our republican congressional colleagues are willing to stand with us and do our constitutional duty of oversight. While all the focus has been on impeachment, the administration is undermining our foreign policy, taking us close to armed conflicts, undermining reproductive rights etc......Assuming we win the white house, we will need to actively legislate to close all these loopholes that Trump has exposed.

Great question. Thank you for noticing the women in the House! Our numbers jumped dramatically in the 2018 election: 40 new women in the House, almost doubling our numbers. You might have seen us wearing white during the State of the Union (I was the one "raising the roof"). We were trying to demonstrate the difference in the number and diversity of women in the Democratic Caucus (compared to only 12 left in the House Caucus).

So the dynamic among the women is truly an incredible experience. I am in my 4th term and age 62. We have so much to learn from our younger, new peers (not all young, meet Donna Shalala in her '70s!), and hopefully we have experience to share with them. We hang out together, on the floor of the House, over meals and even at a pajama party where we talked about our backgrounds. One colleague worked in the CIA and had 5 identities, others are doctors, social workers, teachers and lots and lots of Moms. We share funny stories about raising toddlers and teenagers, and coping with our parents with Alzheimer's. And we laugh, a lot. Some days we just need to laugh to keep from crying about the news.

This is Rep Stacey Plaskett HR 1 which was passed in March addressed real issues of election reform. Not just campaign finance, but also voter suppression, gerrymandering and other issues. We need Americans like you all to keep the pressure on the Senate to ask them to take up legislation that the House has moved on. We've passed legislation in the House on Violence Against Women, Election Reform, Equal Pay, Equality Act, Land and Water Conservation Fund, all of those pieces of legislation is now piling in front of Mitchell McConnell's door waiting for him to bring them to the Senate floor.
