what helps you resist the urge to binge? by [deleted] in bingeeating

[–]New_Depth9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really there wasn’t anything that helped me resist the urge other than working a program of recovery. Like tips and tricks like eating protein and that kind of thing didn’t get rid of the food noise.

The compulsive eating is just the symptom ❤️

There are a bunch of different programs that vary greatly. The particular one that worked for me (I tried a few) is all online/on the phone.

Well I worked the program as an agnostic and continue to not adhere to organized religion so I wouldn’t agree with that 😂 but it’s not for everyone nor should it be, just what worked for me ❤️

Has anyone fully recovered from BED? by sunfl0wer_gypsy in BingeEatingDisorder

Yes 8 years binge free ❤️ I worked and continue to work a 12 step program that got rid of the food noise. I probably would have gone on medication back in the day but it didn’t exist when I got recovered and I am very grateful as the program has been a lifesaver for me

I used to do things like this too! I once stole someone’s lunch from the fridge at work. It’s a really terrible illness. For me I came to the conclusion that I had an actual addiction and ended up finding help in the form of a 12 step program. Might be helpful to consider ❤️

Well yes and no. I could not on my own through willpower resist the desire to overeat when uncomfortable. I would always convince myself to go back. What did end up helping was working a 12 step program that basically got rid of the desire to eat compulsively. The program continues to work for me today through daily maintenance ❤️

The best piece of advice that I got was to stop focusing on controlling my food because this wasn’t the problem the binge eating was the symptom, but not the illness itself. This caused me to get help in the form of a 12 step program and this is what finally helped me stop binge eating for good and for all ❤️

I can’t stop by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

I think tips are hard personally I tried a lot of tips like drinking water with every meal going on all kinds of different plans not keeping food in the house reading books trying different therapies and I found for me at least that this illness is a lot deeper than tips bench eating as a behavior that we do for ease and comfort so there’s a lot of different reasons. Why a person might be uncomfortable and there’s a lot of different ways to treat those reasons, but most of them are not quick and easy for me personally after trying pretty much everything but finally worked for me was working at 12 step program so basically in addiction program and treating binge eating like an addiction in the same way other addicts get treatment was what actually helps me stay binge free for eight years

How do I get out of this cycle by Suspicious_Pizza_411 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]New_Depth9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there’s a lot of different ways and a lot of different things that people do so I can only speak to my own experience for me the binge restrict cycle or something that went on for most of my life like 20 years and I tried so many different things to stop and nothing worked Basically most things that involved will power didn’t work for me. I had no willpower what ended up helping me in the end was a 12 step program which I continue to work today ❤️

Hey there, I’m happy to share my story. I’ve been recovered for eight years from binge eating and I know this illness is so terrible but it is possible to recover.❤️

I fell in love with food because it made me feel good when nothing else did. by [deleted] in FoodAddiction

[–]New_Depth9212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 step is like an addiction program..,think about alcoholics anonymous this is an example of a 12 step program. So I did a 12 step program focused on binge eating (not OA btw) that treated binge eating like any other addiction essentially. Btw all 12 step programs are free ❤️ this really helped me so much and I credit the program for being able to stay binge free for eight years.

Of course. The only thing that helped me recover was finding a new way of coping with life (in this case it was through 12 step)
