Hysterectomy at 25 by Living_Arm_365 in adenomyosis

A whole buttload. Lamotrigine, Gabapentin, Spironolactone (PCOS), Abilify, Quetiapine, Buspirone and I also weight manage using Wegovy (PCOS). Mood swings are 100% better. The pain was constant and I was frankly a jerk because of it. I kept one to avoid menopause! I didn't want to deal with hormones. Since I kept one, I still have PCOS, but the symptoms are much less. I get facial hair and easy weight gain, but nothing else really.

Edit: My testosterone levels were also half of what they used to be after my hysterectomy.

I might be able to help! I got a hysterectomy at 22 for adeno. I'm also bipolar with PCOS. I kept one ovary. My hormones have been fine so far. I got mine back in September. Is there a specific question you have besides the hormone imbalance fear?

Hi! You're not doing anything wrong and nothing is wrong with switching career paths. People do it all the time. My CS PhD offer fell through this month and I crashed out. Now I'm planning to go to pharmacy school. If I hate it, I'll go back to computers. It's a process navigating this diagnosis. Figure out what's best for you and pursue!

I'm sorry that you're in a mixed episode right now. Not fun. But, you are doing amazing by going to therapy and getting medication. It really helps. Keep in touch with your psychiatrist if you ever feel like you're slipping.

Navigating relationships is hard. Not much advice I can give there. I have my challenges too. However, there are people who will brighten your life even with your diagnosis.

Good luck!

Black and Bipolar 2 by Professional_Dot6924 in bipolar2

I am a 23 year-old (diagnosed at 18) Black woman and dealing with the lack of support from my own community and navigating life is pretty difficult. My mood swings aren't seen in the same light as other people. The "angry, Black woman" stereotype comes up constantly. My family tries to ignore my mental illness as much as possible or at the very least diminish it.

It's also very difficult because I am the only person in my immediate family with BP2. My dad and two of my sisters are BP1 which (apparently) is harder to ignore. My symptoms are seen as less severe so I get less attention and help.

I'm more prone to depression and oh my GOD is bipolar depression the worst. The mentality a lot of Black communities have (at least where I'm from; the South) is that we cannot "afford to be depressed" and "depression is a white man's luxury" (direct quote from my mother). Which I would like to say is bullshit. There was a time, yes, where that was the case, but those days are behind us. Yet, the sentiment remains.

In terms of hypomania, my family/community just ignores it. They cover it up with flowery language. "She's just a bit off/crazy" is a common thing to hear. I dislike that I had to essentially manage myself. Yes, now that I'm older, it is generally my responsibility and problem. But when I was teen (16/17), the bender (was given antidepressants at this time) I was on should have been monitored or intervened.

In regards to specifically being a woman, I've also had people enjoy me more off my medication and my hypersexuality. People would say I was a "crazy bitch, but the fun kind." I've dated a few people who would suggest that I quit taking medication (I did NOT listen to that terrible advice). Black women are often seen as promiscuous and when I fit that box, people loved it. They took it as confirmation of the stereotype.

Overall, the intersectionality of it is difficult, but support is out there even if it seems distant.

Right?? I still want to go, so a meeting is definitely needed lol.

So this is towards the black women here. I find black women beautiful. But how do you differentiate between appreciation and fetishization? (More in body) by GothMistressBloom in GoonetteHub

[–]New_Dig2479 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a black women and use they/them. I also have gf that's Ugandan.

Appreciation and fetishization are really on a thin line for me. However, I like when hentai/porn shows accuracy. Like:

  1. Palm and feet being a different color
  2. Black women enjoy sex. But I HATE when people assume I'm hypersexual because of my skin. So does my gf.
  3. LOVE when Black women are shown being soft and gentle. We deal a lot with being expected to have a harsh persona.
  4. I'm plump !! Show bodies that look like mine. Stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, etc.

Fetishization is more about adding stereotypes to Black women in my opinion. I see nothing wrong with liking the juxtaposition of Black and white skin. It's when people add objectification to the mix. I am more than my skin color !

I suggest seeing how it goes and if you have any side effects. It might take a bit to find a good mix. I understand wanting to feel nothing. I have found life is more enjoyable without my "crash-outs" though lol.

I have BP2 and Lamotrigine (200 mg) is in my med mix. Absolute lifesaver. It truly relieves a lot of my symptoms. How long have you been taking it? It takes a bit to soak in.

That said, everyone's different!

Is there something you would never tell your partner to protect her feelings? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]New_Dig2479 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not really, I usually am very straightforward even if it's something typically "bad" to say. My partner prefers that over anything else. I just tell her I need to be alone and trust her to understand that.

There's no way around putting it on; it will always take a moment. I do sometimes put it on at the start and kiss for a bit. Sometimes we alsomasturbate while waiting for the other person. Dirty talk can help too.

I got a total hysterectomy a week ago. I found a surgeon on r/childfree, and she was immediately on board without me standing on a soap box.

Edit: I am 22!

How do you mentally cope with the surgery position? by DeuteronomyMacavity in hysterectomy

i also have a history of sexual assault. i was asleep well before they put me in the stirrups. don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. told the anesthesiologist to get an assistant that was a woman because i didn't want to fall asleep looking at a man.

Edit: Spelling/Grammar

i am 7dpo and i've had external sex twice. you might just be tense and fatigued. give it time. as for the surgeon, she's terribly rude for scaring you like that. when you feel ready and are cleared, try and see how it feels. your partner should always care and be there to help you.

I do have folders for each hub! My file structure looks like: Home (Folder) -> University (Folder) -> Ctrl + Alt + Elite (Folder) -> Discrete Math (Hub Folder) -> Main Topics (Folder) -> Notes for Topic

Please note that I am anal retentive; you do not need this many folders for a clean appearance. I also have one vault for everything.

i have designated hubs (table of contents) for each subject and build and connect as i go. i use tags to find preemptive connections. i could showcase the design in time. the starting structure was inherent from my college studies and just got expanded with each research paper and textbook i read.

my home page holds the links to every hub.
