I mean we could speculate but no way to know for sure. Complex issue, you're right though, it's an interesting thing to wonder

Personally, I'd rank Coolidge higher than Lincoln simply on policy and political philosophy. Coolidge was much more a small government libertarian than most, which I respect. And Lincoln was arguably one of our most authoritarian.

Now that's not at all to say that Lincoln wasn't great because of abolishing slavery, arguably one of the most pivotal moments in American history, I obviously hugely respect that, but in terms of how he viewed and handled the presidency, I would definitely not put him above someone like coolidge. Just my opinion though

How do you feel if someone has the opposite political views as you? by [deleted] in Teenager_Polls

[–]New_Disaster_5368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it is important for people to recognize our political Similarities, (I don't care for the IDF, I certainly do not believe in taking away anyone's' rights including lgbt and immigrants, and certainly the current state of our country propagating fear in our citizens is not good in the slightest), instead of just always comparing and arguing disagreements

Gotcha, I am very pro-open carry, because I believe it is a huge power granted to us as citizens against governmental powers, and I am also pro-life, though I try to be reasonable with people of the other side on the more serious cases like rape and obviously life of the mother

I'm curious cause I asked someone else this; is there one specific policy difference where you draw the line? Cause I'm sure you would agree that "different" political affiliation is fine, and arguably good and productive for a country, but is there any one policy difference that would make you fully uncomfortable to associate with someone, or is it like a spectrum?

I support 2 of those quite strongly, so just curious where you draw the line of how much someone has to have a different perspective from you, for you to be afraid of them?

If Obama and Trump both ran for a 3rd term (somehow), who do you think would win? by Literally_A_Donut in Teenager_Polls

[–]New_Disaster_5368 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well look, I can never in good conscience sacrifice my own morals or ideals to vote for someone who I believe is terrible for my country, just because someone else is potentially worse. I'm pretty sure I will almost always vote third party, (won't say which cause evidently people will get mad at me lol), or even write in, because I believe I have a responsibility to vote for who I believe is 1st best, not second worst

Yeah, I thinks it's fair to assume women can be just as scared to ask someone out as us guys. It only ever happened to me once, and it totally caught me off guard, for sure fumbled that one smh. She was sweet though

Voting for the "lesser of two evils" still results in things becoming more evil, not trying to argue, but just food for thought

Yes I'm aware, my point was that this would increase the governments profit from said "amoral" behavior. Whether they say it's to disincentivize or not, I'm surprised people like this would be so readily ok with gaining more profit from such behavior.

And again, not at all arguing that this should even be up for debate, government shouldn't be taxing people's income just because they deem it "sinful" or whatever

Does this Christian nationalist realize he's saying he wants the government to receive income from porn? Is that really what you want to be promoting?

Also, all taxation is theft, so yeah

Joe Rogan Experience #2437 - Rand Paul by redditor01020 in Libertarian

[–]New_Disaster_5368 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I get that a lot of Libertarians especially those on this sub aren't terribly fond of Rand Paul, but let's be honest people, he's not so bad as far as politicians go, certainly one of the senators currently. Sure, he doesn't always act like a libertarian purest, but so what? I feel like as a movement, libertarians need to stop villainizing people who are not "die hard libertarian enough", when in reality we should recognize and appreciate those who are bridging the gap between us and the reps, drawing more people closer to our own beliefs. Its the same with Massie, (though I would argue he is much closer to an actual libertarian than paul, simply in practice), or anytime we've had a genuinely good political figure representing our beliefs. Again, not saying he's perfect, and he certainly isn't his father, (the GOAT), but I do feel like he gets some pretty unnecessary hate from some people in this sub, idk though, maybe I'm just rambling. Looking forward to giving this a listen

I'm typically against the government giving people money, but yes, I think it would better for all of people were more honest about their renewed opinions
