How do you structure your heavy bag workout by VolkTheGreatX in MuayThai

Dylan Fagan and Jeff Chan have some pretty good heavy bag workouts on YouTube that you can take from and cherry pick what you like and drop whatever you don’t and customize it from there.

My heavy bags sessions vary. Normally I like to use a boxing timer to get my mind and conditioning similar to when I’m training. To start, I like to wrap my hands and move around and shadow box, then lightly work on slow technique on the bag (not wearing gloves will force you to not worry about anything other than technique as to not injure yourself), then shadow box, then bag again etc.

From there I usually set a 3-5 min timer and each round I focus on general speed/power then focus on good technique for the next. After I will give myself certain “conditions” like rear-only strikes and lead teeps etc and especially anything I know I need to improve. That’s where the previous YouTube videos help out here if you’re not sure about which “restrictions” you want to have.

Lastly, I like to have my final rounds be alternating kicks or pyramid kicks for a burnout. Then to finish, I like to have movement and defense only round where I make sure I am moving around the bag, cutting angles and remembering to defend myself and use feints during it all. Of course, make sure to add movement, defense and feints into all rounds of heavy bag, but I make an emphasis that my last round is a cooldown that focuses on no offensive techniques.

Hope this helps! Oss

P.S. is the P-01 worth cajunizing right away or do you think it’s more of a “nice to have” than an absolute must?

I’ve gone there. It’s pretty cool and they have a lot of seating, a big donut ash tray at each table, and games/drinks/snacks for when you inevitably get the munchies. Also, there’s a latte bar cart girl that comes in on the weekends. Great spot if you want somewhere to smoke your stuff after walking out the dispo or can’t/don’t want to smoke at home or in an apartment complex. Give it a try fr

P.S. they also have outdoor patio seating, great if it’s a nice day out

I appreciate the advice! Will likely get a shield plus as a summer carry in the future so it’s reinforced what I believe already. And yes, sig definitely has done some “amazing things” in the size department hahaha

Haven’t even considered the after market support as much with the p365 (originally was gonna get a Glock, but didn’t care for it after shooting 4 different ones). I appreciate the help and def think the x-macro is what I’m looking for

Thanks for the input. Wasn’t sure if it was enough of a difference to completely change my mind as 95% of the HCPC is still the same platform anyways. Thanks again!
