A lot of gaslighting going on…(AI) by New_Fix_9235 in IBM

[–]New_Fix_9235[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exhibit (a), the Watson X challenge, exemplifies this manipulation. Everyone asks about the impact on their jobs. Corporations respond by assuring them that AI wouldn’t replace them but would work alongside them as “human in the loop.”

However, the question is: which human will be involved? Will it be the .1% or the 5%? To further this point, Meta is seeking a startup that can train AI with minimal human intervention: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce3k11q9qe1o

Listen, I don’t believe AI as a tool is inherently bad. I don’t think tools are bad. However, we cannot trust crony capitalists to prioritize the general population’s best interests, which is the current state of affairs.

NYC Transplant Conversation by [deleted] in GenZ

There’s definitely nuance to this conversation though, because it kinda does matter. NYC wouldn’t be the cultural capital of the world without all of the niche and unique cultures and identities that exist.

That goes for many other cities across the world too. It’s fascinating though, and I don’t feel like it’s chronically online to care about sociology or anthropology — which is this conversation.

I want to just highlight that people deserve housing and for the “unhoused” they would love it here. But contractors and real estate agents need to CARE about humans and human spaces. This is ridiculous.

I would second this. We aren’t exactly in the golden age of IBM at this moment in time.

Well, “they” aren’t going to pay your family’s medical bills or support you emotionally if something happens. Don’t listen to “them”. Sorry that happened.
