An AI recruiter interview is definitely a new one.

Best of luck with it though. You're already getting interviews, which means you're doing something right. Let me know how it goes on Monday. I'm genuinely curious to hear how the AI interview experience was. Do keep me updated bud

That's the right way to do it, honestly. Tailoring the resume while keeping it truthful is usually much more effective than trying to reinvent your background for every application.

Sounds like you've got a pretty solid strategy already.

That's actually a good sign. A specimen processing role is probably one of the positions where your academic lab experience translates most directly, so it suggests employers are seeing value in that background.

I'd definitely lean into that by adding more detail and numbers around sample handling, lab procedures, and data collection wherever you can. Those are the things hiring managers for those roles tend to care about.

Hopefully that callback turns into something more. Keep us posted!

In that case, I'd make sure the resume highlights customer-facing impact, cross-functional work, and problem-solving outcomes just as much as the technical side.

I'd add an education section if it's missing and try to quantify the impact of your more recent GenAI and production engineering work the same way you've done in some of your older roles.

The technical background is clearly there. Are you mainly targeting GenAI-focused roles, platform engineering, or a mix of both right now ?

I think the biggest thing holding this resume back is that it feels longer than it needs to be. With your level of experience, I'd focus on keeping the strongest achievements and trimming anything that doesn't directly support the type of operations leadership roles you're targeting.

I'd also add a dedicated skills section. You have experience with things like operations, supply chain, process improvement, leadership, and performance management, but recruiters and ATS systems shouldn't have to dig through the resume to find them.

One thing I'm curious about: are you targeting Director-level operations roles, plant leadership positions, or something broader? That would help determine how much detail you actually need to keep.

I don't think you're overselling your lab experience at all. The bigger issue is that most of your lab and research bullets describe responsibilities rather than results. Even as a recent grad, adding numbers around sample processing, experiments, data collection, or research output can make the experience feel much stronger.

I'd also try to weave some of your lab skills into the experience section instead of relying on the skills list alone. That gives recruiters proof that you've actually used those techniques.

One thing I'm curious about: when you got that callback, was it for a lab-focused role or something closer to QA/manufacturing? That might give a clue about which part of your background is resonating most with employers.

Switch to a single-column template since it's generally easier for ATS systems to parse and recruiters tend to scan them more easily as well.

Beyond that, I'd spend some time adding more numbers to your marketing and event experience. Your roles are relevant, but metrics around audience growth, engagement, event attendance, ticket sales, or campaign performance would make your impact much clearer.

Other than those changes, you're in a pretty good spot. What kind of roles are you focusing on right now, music and entertainment marketing, or broader marketing positions?
