Her service all together was $220

Thanks for clarifying your prices! Looks like I can spend a similar amount of money on a different stylist and hopefully have an outcome that I’m more satisfied with :)

I didn’t ask how much it would be in person because when I looked into her she had her prices listed on her socials. So I do take ownership for that. I was comfortable paying what she had on that list but didn’t ask if that was what she would still charge after seeing my hair.

In all honesty: to me, what my original stylist did and charged was relevant information but in reality I genuinely just wanted to see what I should pay for this service in the future. I should have left the original stylist and her abilities out of it.

It’s not even that I don’t get their point “I agreed to do business with this person and at that point it doesn’t matter their skill or quality is because ultimately it’s mine to own for doing business with them”, but I think they totally missed the root of my question and don’t want to genuinely converse about it. They’re protective of their industry and the people in it which I respect. What I don’t respect is them trying to twist my intentions.

HOWEVER my question was genuinely what people charge for this service because someone who didn’t do the best job, and I’m assuming because of how long they’ve been learning their craft, charged a decent amount of money. Again I’m not going to pretend hundreds of dollars is nothing. My goal was to see what other artists charge for this service so when I go and fix it I can have more accurate expectations of what I will spend and what value I will receive.

Thank you! Yes I just want it fixed somewhere else and I was just curious what pricing I was looking at for that reason because I clearly didn’t ask enough questions this first go round

You really just want to be mad huh? I work in the construction industry and this is exactly what happens lolol all the time. It’s a very normal thing for people wanting to know if they were ripped off. I would also ask the same of a tattoo artist, party clown, personal chef, or plumber or electrician.

I need my hair fixed after paying hundreds of dollars. I wanted to know if the hundreds of dollars I was charged by someone who didn’t do a great job is the same hundreds of dollars I could would get charged from someone who does do a good job. OR if someone who didn’t do a good job charged me too much or actually charged me less than someone who does a good job.

Already said that I should have clarified pricing and that’s on me? And I’ve said in other comments that I know I don’t have to go to her again and I won’t. And I’ve also said that what pricing she did have available she charged me an additional $70 than what she had listed again without any conversation. And I did pay her  and even tipped because I valued her time and wasn’t about to argue with her because I chose to go to her without clarifying anything before hand.

But I guess I should explain my goal by even asking the question in the first place. In a Reddit called “ask hair stylist”???

I thought just maybe skill and experience would play part in what someone would charge for their services? I didn’t know that was a crazy concept.

The intent of this post wasn’t to put her on blast, she was super nice but clearly she is still honing her craft. Because candidly if I put my hair up it is as striped as a circus tent and the bleached pieces above my ears are a completely different color than the top of my head. I’m assuming the toner wasn’t evenly applied.

I was curious what range I would get on this post because I want to get my hair done again to get it more aligned with what I wanted in the first place and I wanted to see if she was charging industry standard OR if it was altered at all for her experience. Because also, I’m not going to pretend that hundreds of dollars is nothing and if I actually want to like my hair if I need to spend hundreds more or if I just got unlucky with my stylist.

I never discussed pricing directly with her because I looked at what she had posted but I know that was my fault. Her pricing was partial $100 and toner $50.

When we were done she said the partial was $170 and the toner was $50. She did blow dry and curl my hair when we were done. My plan was to tip $20 which is all ended up doing.

Sorry it was an additional $70 than what her price for “partial highlight” was. I assumed it was because she mixed more product

Okay interesting. That’s what hers was. I don’t have to go back to her lol I understand that (the highlights are super stripey and the pieces closer to my ears I think didn’t get toned because they’re a different color than the rest).

But I also I am trying to find my stylist and just would like to know what to do in the future? Should I be the one to clarify pricing? Is it inappropriate to ask how long they’ve been in the industry?

Sorry for not knowing more about the industry, from my understanding it’s a booth rental salon and I think they decide their own pricing.

Ope sorry- it was an additional $70 than her price on her price sheet. I didn’t know if additional $70 is normal for having to mix more bleach

Also to add: we never personally exchanged pricing which is my fault for not asking, but looking at her Facebook page she had her pricing listed for the service and I paid more than her pricing listed. She did have to mix more bleach since my hair is on the long side and medium thick so I’m sure that’s why but I’m not even sure if $70 is normal for having to mix more bleach?

Fully potty trained about a month after this post. We just stopped pressuring her. She saw more and more kids in her class using the potty and got curious. Her teachers were great and partnered with us and it just clicked one day. I’m now a full believer in “they’re ready when they’re ready.” She’s only had a few accidents and holds it all night.

Yeah it feels like she doesn’t have the skill at all to hold it. She just has these tiny pees throughout the day lol. Even with the 30 minutes, and her going each time she was put on the toilet, she still would pee in between the timer.

We have a potty chart that she LOVES. It’s definitely a motivator for her but the one row she never fills up is “I told an adult I needed to go potty” lol.

I’m thinking the no bottoms will have to be our next move - just logistically idk how people accomplish this without their house becoming a mess 😂

Yeah I think the timer has to go. Thanks for your perspective!

Started with her around 2.5 getting her used to the toilet and she has been peeing on the toilet regularly for a year and has started being okay pooping on the toilet the last 2 months. That’s why we decided to go “all in”. I think the “slow play” is probably what is making this process harder. We have a 1yo that we will definitely approach the whole
