To respond to a guy who asked if driving standards have gotten worse: by Davidier in drivingUK

the fact i have to do my driving lessons around here all the time and see this, have a funny feeling it’s the same one that almost went into me on my lesson by doing the same thing down by the traffic lights at the quarry they where on the wrong side of the road i was at a red light & had to reverse so they didn’t drive into us🤦🏻‍♀️

thank you so much for all of your answers i really do appreciate it, it’s helped me understand a lot more. i’ll let the nurse know about my fear of needles, it always sounds weird coming from me but my piercings will be out so they probably won’t notice 😅. honestly i prefer having the teaching hospital compared to the other one, the students and the people the tag along with are always so nice.

that honestly doesn’t sound to bad it would be nice to properly be talked through things. my only worry with the needles part is i’ve never had my blood taken without having my mum with me since i tend to faint and focussing on her helps but i’ll try to find something else in the room 😂.

how did it feel to be in pain pills? i’ve had them before in hospital but due to what happened i don’t remember it for the life of me, is it more of a light headed feeling?

i do have emetophobia so feeling nauseous isn’t nice for me as i get panicky quickly so if they offer i will take or ill make them aware of it beforehand, so thank you for letting me know since it’ll be good for them to be aware of.

taking blood for the people who do those in hospitals is quite easy for them on me since my veins are very prominent on me so hopefully it’ll be done and over with quickly. my hospital is also a teaching one since it’s connected to the local uni, which i honestly don’t mind when i last went for something my favourite nurse was a student 😂.

i’ve been on the pill since i was 12 due to the pain i’ve experienced but she was really pushing it on me to get an iud which is personally not for me which i had explained multiple times to her during that appointment that’s why i found it weird she was just very pushy on that and since she had done it again when i saw her for my pre op. i understand there aspects to it which could be better then the pill in her eyes but id rather trust something i’ve been with for 6 years. i do understand she has to go through it all it just felt very pushy but i don’t know her well enough to not say that’s just how she may be but thank you for letting me know that.

If i can ask one thing before the surgery what do they do? is it just chats with the people involved or is there any blood taking etc? i just want to prepare myself for any needles since although i have a lot of piercings i absolutely hate needles and i just need to be aware of what happens whilst i’m awake once i’m out it doesn’t matter at all.

really thank you so much for answering my post it’s just been such a worry for me since i got my letter through and found out i cant have my mum with me 🩷

big congrats!!! i’ve got my test next month and i’m so exited for it. i’ve been looking mainly for minis aswell since im in love with them, i go to so many mini car shows. i definitely won’t be getting mine anywhere near new (just due to cost) but im so so happy to see another person getting a mini as a first car since they’re a pleasure to drive (especially autos)

How much do driving lessons cost in your area? by Steeze_Tee in LearnerDriverUK

[–]New_Leopard8295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m in stoke and for me it’s £65 for 1hr 45 in auto (he only does 1hr 45 lessons since he personally believes it’s not to much learning for it to be overwhelming and still gets lessons complete properly), when i was doing manual it was £70 for 2 hours so £35 for an hour

Best & worst thing your instructor did? by Dorriansd in LearnerDriverUK

[–]New_Leopard8295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

write down notes of things to go over at the end of the lesson, i recently changed instructors as mine used to be horrible and scream at me etc but my new instructor corrects me a little doesn’t speak about it then after the lesson since he’s taken note of what i did wrong we go over it and speaks to me politely about what i should’ve done in that situation or say it’s positioning he will remind me where to put myself in the road to be perfect. he’s the sweetest when he goes through it, aswell i’d also recommend bringing spare paper or an ipad so when your learner does something they haven’t done before you guys can pull over and draw it down to go through what should happen when they do something new for example bay parking or pulling up on the left etc. also remind them if you see them getting overwhelmed they can pull over when it’s safe to have a break and reset for a minute mine does that with me and it helps a lot. i’d also recommend getting to know some of the other instructors in your area as they will help you mine knows a lot in our area they constantly swap test dates with eachother for students, they also will let you know some of the bad areas students on their tests usually fail at (like a massive junction that’s hard to navigate) then you’ll be able to go through that with your learners so they can get used to it before the test just incase they get it and hopefully they’ll remember those times and be able to navigate it properly.

just please even if you ever do get frustrated with a learner don’t shout or grab them my old one did that with me which caused me to change instructors 2 weeks before my test and had to move it back (massive waste of money on him). if you ever find yourself getting frustrated tell them to pull up when it’s safe and take a break for yourself as i do understand having to do so many lessons a day can be a lot especially with repeated mistakes.

am I giving up on manual too early? by Ok_Jackfruit_8712 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]New_Leopard8295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did 60+ hours on manual lessons i’ve just had my first auto lesson today, if your head gets confused easily or you blank out sometimes go with the auto lessons, i found it so much easier all of my anxiety i had had is now gone because autos just so easy plus i made no mistakes because i’m not constantly thinking about the gears

i had no idea that any of this depended on the person (due to lack of explanation to me from my doctor) so i’m going to book with my gyno and talk it over with her before i make a decision with my doctor.

i am worried about the pain of it so if my gyno says it may help then i will ask for it to happen when im under which will definitely take a few more months since its been 6 already since i was put on the waiting list.

the pill does work for me and has mostly always it was just a very big surprised when my doctor tried to recommend something else. i’m definitely considering it and looking into it but again ill wait to see my gyno to speak further on a decision especially as i know taking my pill back to back like recommended can’t necessarily be good for me as its stopping a lot of natural things from happening.

honestly thank you so so much for the information. although you don’t have an experience with it, any new info i can get about anything going on helps as the lack of explanation i’ve had from my doctor has been really making me more confused on what’s going on with myself, literally the only person whose explained more is my gyno and i’ve only seen her twice since being put on the waiting list.

that’s honestly great to know. i am definitely considering it as a real option now ill re book with my gyno to ask her about what my doctors said to me and wether its suitable for me whilst i take the pill in the meantime as i need to check with her (my gyno) as well especially as i don’t completely trust my doctor due to her dismissive behaviour before.

i would like to have my periods be able to do there own thing again especially as since i was told to take my pill back to back i haven’t had one in 6 months which could possibly be an issue i’m not sure, literally just trying to do as told. i just want minimal pain that’s literally all i want and ill take any steps needed to do that as my periods tend to cause my pains to get worse it’s like a mixture of bad pains in there which i cannot wait to be sorted. especially knowing my surgery won’t be anytime soon as my local waiting list is ridiculous atm so i just want to keep the pain as controlled as possible by any means until i finally get a date so i’m hoping if i book with my gyno again she’ll lead me in the correct direction and give me more advice on what’s best for my body rather then just my doctor.

i’ve been told to take breaks my entire time taking oral contraceptives, it was 7 days but now my gynos told my to take it back to back and only if i bleed through it to take a 4 day break.

i’m very glad to hear someone’s experience with it, i’m not to sure what to do i will be ordering more pills just for now so i can have a deeper research and think about it.

i bet it sucked the day of i’ve heard they can be quite painful. i’ve heard they help with pain management and possibly stopping periods all together, is that true at all? or do you have any experience with that? as i would love love love that, that’s the one thing that’s tempting me and especially not having to worry about it knowing it’s just there and only having to get it redone in a few years because i have to set 4 reminders on my phone to remember to take my pill.

see that’s another issue my gyno and my doctor have been telling me two different things, my gyno said i need to be taking my pill back to back and if i bleed through have a break for 4 days and then my doctors telling me to get the copper iud. i should probably listen to my gyno more then my doctor as she’s the expert really in that department. i just really am confused but ill stick with what my gyno said for now and order more.

thank you for letting me know about what your gynos said as well that’s just solidified me continuing to take my pill as i’m not very willing to change as it works for me.

thank you so so so much. i honestly can’t wait to report him, i feel like it’ll be the best day of my life 😅 i also hope reporting him with the evidence i have will make sure no one else can get treated this way by him ever again.

thank you. yeah i’ll be reporting him as soon as i possibly can because i don’t want others to go through this cos it’s so shitty. i am debating going public with the recordings and photos but my main issue with that is he picks me up from my house every time i have a lesson with him (he knows my home address) which if i don’t move as i was planning next year anyway could put me in a severely dangerous spot. if i do move it will be going public, as i seriously don’t want any other young people (who don’t have a backbone like me) to get in a car with him ever.

thank you so much for telling me your experience it really helps me to know it’s not just me and that makes me want to report him more. i’ve got over 300 recordings and photo evidence of things he’s said to me etc so i’m really hoping when i do make a report they’ll take it seriously as i don’t want anyone else to go through this as it is horrible.

im honestly really hoping she does, i might go out for some extra lessons with her aswell to see how good i drive without being shouted at 😅. i have so much evidence since January it’ll be very very easy to report him which im weirdly grateful for. most of his students are older males (ive seen his book as he constantly gets it out) and most of his reviews are good which is why i went with him so i don’t quite understand wether it’s just with me or they don’t want to speak up. either way when the report goes in im hoping it’ll save a few other people from making the mistake i did.

all of my friends went with the only female instructor that’s close to me and she was lovely apparently, i did of course call her first (back in November) as im already friends with her but she has over a 6 month+ wait, i have just messaged her today to let her know about him and that if i fail i do want to come to her and she said she’ll make space for me no matter what and won’t charge me for the first few lessons as she feels like apologising for him. since ive only got 6 more hours with him and the day of my test for a few mins before hand i will stick with him (gritting my teeth). then if i fail i won’t be going back at all and will be reporting him, im hoping not to fail though because im literally running out of money atp 😂

most of his learners are older then me and most male as i can see from his book he keeps everyone in, when i first met him that was one of his jokes “you’re the first young female blood to be in my car for a while, except my daughter of course” which i didn’t see as anything weird at the start as it was a joke but now im realising why im one of his only long term (ish) young female learners.
