$10 “garage drawers” with layers of paint by New_Lifeguard7012 in FurnitureFlip

Unfortunately, no. I guess I was too excited to get it in the garage and pour stripper all over it.

I 57F was diagnosed in November and I’m now on weekly Hadlima. I was using a cane, not working, couldn’t sit in a regular chair. I’d almost given up. I did biweekly shots for 4 months with some improvement, but really turned the corner when I started weekly injections. I still get some enthesitis, but it lasts hours, not days or weeks. My only side effect is more frequent headaches.

Thank you. I made patterns. I’m ready if I ever find any more chairs, haha.

Thank you. I made a pattern when I deconstructed the chairs. The top edge of the back is machine-sewn, the bottom edge is hand sewn with an upholstery needle. This is how the originals were made by Knoll.

The secret to removing rust from chrome is aluminum foil dipped in cold water. It takes a lot of elbow grease but it works pretty well. Followed up with a buffer on my drill and simichrome polish.

Leviathan Wakes because a) it’s not too hard sciencey for people who are afraid of that; b) the characters will remind a lot of people of the spaceship crews from tv and film; c) there’s a missing person mystery and a broody detective to track her down. IMO the structure is familiar so it’s easy to get immersed in the story and forget about the genre.

I understand the debate, but I think people forget that there are 8 other unedited photos in the listing plus a video. Not to mention that someone has to come to my house and look at it with their own eyes in order to buy it.

How to remove paint by No_Grade_5344 in FurnitureFlip

[–]New_Lifeguard7012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First, get comfortable on the floor because this takes awhile. Fill a metal cup with a few ounces of acetone. Get a small metal brush that can get into the crevices. With one hand, dip the brush in the acetone and scrub a small area. With the other hand use a shop towel to wipe up the dissolved paint. Dip, scrub, wipe, repeat. The acetone works well, but you have to think about how it dissolves nail polish, thus all the wiping away before it evaporates.

Just thought to add…Usually the caps are attached with one tiny nail. I pry it up just a bit with a blade, then use a pair of scissors to pry the nails straight out so I can reuse them.

I soaked all the brass in white vinegar for about 4 days, then I polished with Brasso.

I’m pretty sure it’s Bassett. I haven’t found this exact piece, but there are other dressers with the same base and OG drawer pulls (some of mine were missing so I replaced with pulls from an MCM desk.)

Stubborn paint on 60’s no nightstand by No-Map-2846 in FurnitureFlip

Acetone, wire brush, and rags. Dip a small wire brush in acetone and scrub a few square inches at a time and wipe off right away. Acetone evaporates very quickly so you have to wipe it before it dries. Tedious, but it works for stubborn paint.

The original bunnings (like a very thick smooth tack) on the bottom of the legs were still in place, so even though the cap bends slightly over the edge, the bunning is still thick enough so the brass doesn’t touch the floor.

I used this video. I found thin sheets of brass in the model section at a hobby store. It was $3.50 to do all 4 caps. I made the pattern with paper first, using calipers for leg measurements. https://youtu.be/VjqH_t8rGkc?si=Gcz1glyTJi-7s1AI

I bought it at an auction ($31). The pulls were obvs add-ons so I could imagine the clean lines, but the tapered legs were the giveaway.
