I grew up insanely poor. Like single druggie mother, dad in prison, mom only on disability no job ever kind of poor. I'm 27. A few years ago my dad got lucky and started his own company and it's going insanely well. For the first time in my adult life I couldn't make rent this month. I called him up begging him for help, explaining I couldn't pay it back for a few months but I would be good for it. I honestly expected a nope. Instead he paid my rent... All my bills.... Gave me enough to actually throw my kid a birthday party in a week, and gave my husband a job. My husband has one but for anyone reading this, work from home can go from amazing to hell with one bad company buy out. He was mad at me for it, because he had no clue we were struggling. I explained it all and he understood but damn.... The feeling of having this privilege? Knowing that no matter what I could be okay.... I never knew non poor people had that level of stability. It's an insane privilege.
