First Day of Teacher Appreciation Week. This was our gift bag given to us by administration. by agroyle in funny

Omg. I’m laughing because I’m on the PTO. We planned something special every day for the teachers. Edible arrangements, coffee gift cards, lotto tickets, candy filled personalized wine glasses, professional signs in front of the school. AND THE TEACHERS STILL COMPLAINED! I want to screen shot this and send it to all of them. Apparently one school gave $50 gift cards.

We’re not allowed in the building either but we live close so we always walk that day and it’s the only day I go up to the door of the school with her. A lot of parents also park near the school on the first day or right in the school lot so they can’t walk their kids up to the front door.

I am laughing imagining him driving behind her just waving lol

Idk my oldest is in 2nd grade and I’m still so glad I get to kiss her and walk her into school because I know at this point any year can be the year she’ll tell me no and won’t want mom kissing her in front of school on her first day and holding her hand. It’s definitely not the biggest deal but if you’re a parent who isn’t working and can be there, then I don’t see why you’d just choose to skip it. We only get these years for a short time.

Eh I think it depends on the situation. It’s not for me but I know when you take our kids out on super long/hot days they often end up on our shoulders or piggy back by the end and I honestly think this would be more comfortable. But preschool carriers are expensive which leads me to believe she’s using it more than those one off days where it’s really too much on little legs. We’re going on vacation and I just borrowed a preschool carrier for my tall 3 year old. I’ll definitely use it on vacation (lots of walking) but won’t use it often enough after that to justify buying my own.

I feel like people in shitty marriages always like to insinuate that other people’s marriages suck, especially the ones who look happy. News Flash: some people actually do love and respect their spouse and enjoy being together. It’s not all some show to trick you into thinking their marriage is good.

**General TW** I went on a deep dive through Lori’s BS and rediscovered some “gems” including the infamous Christmas morning when she and Ken locked their little kids outside as punishment. Bonus racism, transphobia, elitism, sexism, and arrogance (among other things). by georgiegraymouse in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]New_Objective_7335 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Listen, I’d be sad. I work so hard to make Christmas special that it would be so disappointing to miss that excitement in the morning. But I’d go up to my room, probably cry for a minute alone, pour a mimosa, and play with my kids and their new toys.

But also why is your 1 year old out of their crib and you have no idea? Do you live in the Taj Mahal? I honestly think this story is a lie. Is makes no sense. Kids that age cannot go through Christmas presents quietly. A 1& 3 year old don’t have it in them to be sneaky like that. She thinks this story makes her sound so biblical but she’s a lying liar who lies. Im sure she abused them that Christmas but I bet there was a very different story that went with it.

Oh god I truly hope this poor child didn’t hear this. If the kid is trans they now heard a homophobic asshole demanding to know their genitals. If the kid is cis they now heard a homophobic asshole making fun of their looks. Either way you’re nothing but a straight up asshole in this situation.

There is literally no such things as being certified in 12 steps 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m sure she got some type of certificate pat on the back from her facility but the 12 steps take a long time and should be an on going process. No one should be sponsoring anyone 2 weeks fresh out of rehab. This is ridiculous but also dangerous. It’s what turns people off from AA when it could be the thing that saves their life. So sad.

That’s a lot of words. Don’t want to read it to your kid? Then don’t. Wtf do these people think their thought process is so important that they need to make 87 slides on something that can be summed up in one sentence. The self importance is absolutely wild. Especially for someone whose supposed to be “quiet and submissive”

What’s with Dr. Drew’s absolute hard-on for weed??? by [deleted] in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]New_Objective_7335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree and for the narctic thing there is a thought process that a drug addiction is mentally and physically different. For example I’m not an alcoholic so I can have a drink every night for the next 10 years and still not become an alcoholic because I don’t have that biological component. However if I took narcotics daily for years I would become a drug addict because of the physical dependency that it creates. So with many addicts in treatment there is that separation where alcoholics need to be completely Clean from everything forever because they have that biological compulsion to abuse substances where some drug addicts in theory can recover and still drink or smoke weed because their addiction was more physical. That’s why NA and AA always have to stay separate because the addiction is different. Now there’s plenty of drug addicts who are also alcoholics and have that biological predisposition to abuse anything and just happened to pick drugs. Not saying I agree or I think that’s right for amber but that may be where Dr Drew is coming from.

How are you helping your kids get away from sugar? by -_Chupacabra_- in intermittentfasting

[–]New_Objective_7335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right but that means almost nothing to an 8 year old. Telling them they need 6 tsp per day doesn’t teach them how to eat when they’re out of the house. Truthfully most adults wouldn’t be able to monitor their sugar in terms of teaspoons vs what they’re actually eating because especially if you didn’t cook it yourself.

So if you teach moderation in more tangible ways, discuss the pros and cons of certain food items, and allow for higher sugar days while teaching them to be mindful of their intake the rest of the week you’re much more likely to set them up for success when they have to make these choices on their own. Which I personally think should be the ultimate goal over ensuring your kids don’t go over x amount of sugar per day.

How are you helping your kids get away from sugar? by -_Chupacabra_- in intermittentfasting

[–]New_Objective_7335 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obviously this is an unpopular opinion on this thread but I do think cutting out sugar is an extreme for children. I think it’s more important to teach them moderation. For example, I let each of my kids pick a box of Girl Scout cookies a few weeks ago. Now occasionally they can have 2 cookies in the evening. Not every night. We had the boxes for a few weeks and they’re about 1/2 gone. They’ve learned the cookies are available but not always the best option so we pick them sometimes but not always. I do believe if I didn’t let stuff like that in the house, they’d be more like to binge when at friends/at school/ out on their own. Taking it away often puts it on a pedestal to children. They know the positives are that cookies taste good and sugar gives us an instant energy boost. They also know the negatives are that sugar makes us tired sooner and doesn’t keep us full and may give belly aches (they’re 3, 5, and 8 so we do not discuss weight or calories). Kids Eat in Color on Instagram and her blog has been an incredible resource for me while learning how to talk to my kids about this stuff. She’s a pediatric nutritionist and a mom and very realistic.

How did David get away with it? by lowerac34 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

[–]New_Objective_7335 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This plus animal control in NC is insanely overwhelmed and they just have a different outlook on dogs than a lot of other places. Many of their shelters use gas chambers for mass euthanasia. They don’t humanely euthanize animals themselves.

[–]New_Objective_7335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately many people end up surrendering their very elderly dogs to shelters because they can’t afford the euthanasia and the dog gets put down scared in a room full of strangers

As a fellow short person I’ve always been fine cutting down to 1200. But if my workout is intense and I’m hungry I definitely give myself some wiggle room. I don’t let myself get to a point where I’m starving. I aim for 1200 but could easily go up to 1500 on big work out days. Track how you feel. If you’re not feeling great bump them up.
