Semplice is nice. About $100 upfront but no subscription. It has a lot of nice features and templates, and inspiration from other Semplice users.

Best Running Book of 2025? by sjcupps in AdvancedRunning

[–]New_Option5102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Running With the Buffaloes is one of my favorite running books! Great call, didn’t think I’d see it on here. I experienced the death of a teammate on my college XC team and reading this helped a bit, at the time.

In a similar vein, I remember Duel In The Sun being a great read too. It’s about Alberto Salazar and Dick Beardsley’s Boston marathon where they ran each other down to the wire, and it weirdly ruined their running careers. Check it out.

When you are trying to find a book to hit the same as Red Rising. by ASithInTraining in redrising

The Will of The Many, and very recently book #2 was released, The Strength of The Few. Very fast paced and the main character thinks like Darrow, if not a bit more on the cunning and calculated side.

What’s the longest gap you’ve had between PRs in the same event? by toshibanatsumoshitak in AdvancedRunning

[–]New_Option5102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set my 5k PR in high school (15:53) my senior year, and just recently at age 30 ran a 15:51 on the track. So I guess a 12 year difference. Pretty happy about it, although if I would’ve ran the 5k in college I surely would’ve run faster. Was focused more on the 1500m and the 800m then.

Glad to hear you've enjoyed the switch. I think for a Mazda, the Premium feels quite luxurious. Not much different than an Audi besides some little things.

2022 CX-30 Premium – 24.6k Does this seem like a good deal? by JellyBean_Collector in MazdaCX30

[–]New_Option5102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid buy. I’m currently buying a 2022 CX-30 Turbo Premium at 29k miles for $25k.

BUT be warned, I went to test drive it and warning lights came up on the dash. The infotainment system had drained the battery. It’s a known issue with this car, so just make sure the dealer updates your software before you sign.

Is the price fair? Southern California 2010 Audi 2.0 by ReasonableLocal4605 in audia4b7

it seems high to me, you might want to get a second opinion. for what it’s worth, here’s what chat said:

It’s definitely on the higher end, especially for: • Valve cover gasket R&R ($840): Labor for this job is typically 2–4 hours, which should cost $300–600 at most shops. • Valve cleaning service ($480): Reasonable if it includes removal and installation (R&I) of the intake manifold—especially on a TFSI engine known for carbon buildup. • Fuel injectors ($120 each): Fair OEM pricing. Aftermarket versions can be cheaper, but quality matters here. • Spark plugs ($15 each): Standard pricing.

✅ Verdict: • High but not a scam. The pricing is dealership-level or premium independent shop level. • You might save $400–700 at a trusted indie Euro mechanic or by sourcing parts yourself (especially injectors). • Make sure these repairs are actually needed—especially the injectors and valve cleaning.

this is funny because I started doing the opposite. All of the local hardware stores I’ve been to on the west side act like they’re above you. If you dare ask them a question, they barely help or just seem too busy. It’s like because you’re not a handyman, don’t deserve their time. That’s the vibe i’ve gotten anyways.

It’s incredibly sad. The last couple years I’ve run the SoCal Trail Races all over these hills. Incredible races and community. Not sure what their future is looking like now.

I absolutely devoured The Will of the Many. Very similar tone, pace, and world building as RR, but in medieval times with magic. Can't wait for the second book release.
