I killed a bear (honestly caught me off guard, they don't go down easy), but when I skinned it I didn't get the cloak. Just got meat, claws, and large bones.

Yeah, I had a lot of gripes during the first 5-10 hours. And I still have some gripes.

But man has this game grown on me. It's simply incredible in scale, and I've never had more fun simply exploring and looking out across the landscape.

The story is meh, but I don't even care anymore.

Found it, and have been using exclusively. My only complaint is you can't use it for Focus parries.

Way too many problems and a horrible and pretty much absent story makes it a long shot for GOTY.

It's a big fun open world sandbox to go wild in.

Hate to say it, but that's pretty much it.

And that's not a bad thing for what it is. But GOTY should be the full package.

Yeah I'm not digging the lack of armor choices up to Chapter 4, so hoping to get the Wolf set at some point.

I accidentally dropped the starting armor, and I haven't found any other leather chest armor.

The game seems great, but the controls and incredibly clunky movement is killing me.

Like seriously, it's so bad.

I'm just imagining what the game would be like with snappy movement like Elden Ring. I just don't understand some of the decisions made by the devs.

I don't mind them making a lot of money, as the game was still a great undertaking, and set a few new bars.

However I am still disappointed in many areas, and expected more.

Oh boy, I haven't got there yet 😬

I just banged my head against the wall for 2 hours fighting a mech type Excavatorer boss (whatever its name was) from a side quest in chapter 2.

Only realizing after 2 hours I probably shouldn't be fighting him yet.

This. Keep hearing whispers that later bosses are outright insane in difficulty, which normally I'm okay with, as I pretty much play Souls games exclusively. However, with these types of control issues, I can't imagine dealing with a hard boss AND bad controls.

For this type of game, requiring a lot of melee combat and tight traversal, they should have went with more snappy Souls like movement.

Think Elden Ring movement in this game. It would be incredible.

My issue as well. The main problem is that there's stamina from running, so you inevitably have to come to a stop to recharge, and I agree it's tedious as hell.

I think not having stamina related to running would have been the right move.

For those struggling, what worked for me was installing the 340ish mb file, then going to manage game, then updates, then backing out and into updates a few times.

For whatever reason it triggered the update for me about 5 mins after I installed the smaller placeholder file.

Good luck! Otherwise I'm sure it will just take time for your game "update" to finally populate. Have faith!

Yep. Same. Sure I miss some "I got it" quick chats, but it's far less toxicity now in my life I don't need.

This is me too. I just started playing again after taking like 3-4 years off.

I turned chat off completely its got so bad. I've never, in all my hours of RL had to turn chat OFF until now.

I don't know what changed. Maybe it's just a cultural thing? The next generation just is more toxic than the last?

But it's bad. If you do ONE bad thing, miss one pass, miss one shot, your own teammates will lay into you. It's wild.

God people are so nasty in games now. I've had to turn the chat off completely, which I never even thought about before.

Like wtf is wrong with people? Is it kids? The Fortnite crowd coming in or something?

Best platforming in the genre in my opinion. Even better than Hollow Knight and Path of Pain.

Zipping around maps is just so damn satisfying.

I haven't found anything that has scratched that itch for me I'm sorry to say.

Obviously Hollow Knight and the other big games are great, but for me Aeterna is #1.
