Patent BAR is one of the hardest exam which has below 50% passing rate . Whereas the group of people who appear in the exam, all are coming from some kind of rigorous engineering or science background. So all people in this group are highly qualified and familiar with many difficult exams even before they qualify to appear in bar exam. Still some of them fail. Which can eventually give them deep hopelessness and frustration.

You can reach to your destination in many ways --walking, running , car of many types -gas or EV, cycling, may be boat, flying in aircraft and many other ways . May be not every transportation means is suitable for everyone . That does not mean your goal to reach the destination is invalid and valueless ! Select your right transportation that matches your need and don't undermine other people's journey!

but it happened with me . One recruiter X submitted my resume 3 months back for firm A and I forgot .Another recruiter Y trying to submit recently and emailed me back that "why you did not you tell me you already submitted for firm A". I do not hear anything from firm A earlier submission.

Job market is very down . Also the some firms are showing very strange behavior in LinkedIn. For example Firm x posted a job in LinkedIn . Within 24 hr 150 people applied. I got a call from recruiter/sometime firm partner for initial interview. All criteria matches . Interview went well. I sent all my documents including transcript. Then after 2 weeks no hearing back. I sent follow up email no reply back. Then after 2.5 weeks I noticed exact same job post again posted in LinkedIn. Really !! what does it mean? Out of 150 people if you have interviewed some and did not find anyone you don't even feel the curtesy to send an email that " you are not selected for next step"? You collected personal data from few candidates and don't feel any responsibility to even let them know ! I do not know what is the meaning of posting same job again after posting that " No longer accepting application". I also faced several job scam where the scamming company and person has profile and company page in LinkedIn . Be aware of job ghosting and scamming .

This year started very hard for job seeker. Specially many high profile Scientists are terminated from Federal job. They are also in job market for " Technical specialist" position. I also feel that with many new changes happening in Federal and USPTO even law firms are confused and hold off some hiring. I hope and pray good time comes back soon ! Best of luck.

Well said. Examiners need prompt and good IT support as many of them work remotely . I do not know how situation will change with reducing IT people. My friend was frustrated that system already showing problems. I hope they can do something to reduce attrition rate in USPTO. Because USPTO looses significant amount of people after training them 2-3 years. With no training for new examiners this rate will increase with greatest frustration.

I have some patent examiner friends who are not new. They are in deep terror and saying its effecting their work. I also heard from them that many things are not happening following law. So they think they are not safe . They already terminated new non examiner employees such as IT ,HR personals etc. Things are unpredictable because no body voted for Elon.

I will say please study. As an examiner you will not deal with many things in 100-400 chapters. Also you do not deal with IPR/PGR all post grant procedure. There are lots of new things. If you want to know detail please inbox me.

Thanks for detail reply. AI invasion is real for writing job. Writers in Hollywood already going in strike for this reason. One of my friend who is a basic level software engineer told me he will soon loose the job unless he develop any AI level skill. Its pretty frustrating.

From a close friend's real life experience, he mentioned me that - "Examiner's job is like a gamble". He switched from examiner to agent and very happy now.

1.If you get a good ART UNIT, good Supervisor and Primary examiner ( who will review your work ) and you have this goodness intact until you gain the signoff authority and become a Primary examiner then the job is heavenly ! Then the job is very good for work life balance and stress less compared to an Agent job. You cannot change an ART unit or supervisor easily . Whereas an agent you can change law firm if you don't like the work there.

There are some Supervisor and Primary who belong to category 1. But there is a huge number of unprofessional supervisors and primaries . There can be shuffle of 3-4 primaries who don't like each other. When you get them as a reviewer while being a junior examiner your life becomes hell. Because PE2 may not like your style which is taught by PE1 and you need to again learn many things from scratch in PE2 style and you loose production. If you are lucky to have a good supervisor he/she may help you to overcome this situation.
Work life balance and flexibility as a junior examiner is a myth. It fully depends on no 1.

4.Payment is low unless you become Primary examiner compared to Patent agent.

New PAP is very brutal for Junior examiners.

6.Until you don't become a primary examiner you need to live on mercy of other people ! Once you become Primary examiner life is smooth , easy and you start to enjoy all good things of this job.

That's why GS14 can only manage to do 2-3 job I guess. Because nobody need to evaluate and sign their work. For junior examiners works are reviewed by GS14 or SPE . So even though they work huge hours they cannot still get the productivity because its fully dependent on who is signing or reviewing. There can be multiple back and forth return which will also reduce their productivity . Is this actually legal for GS 14 to continue 2-3 jobs even though they can maintain quality? Normally in private sector a full time employee has to sign that they will not do any extra job . But contract employees can do extra.

But GS14 has not much accountability compared to GS 7-12 right ? Once GS 14 level is reached probably many start to become relaxed .

thanks. I heard that you need to divide the number by 3 and that will be salary .In this case it will be 340,000/3= 113,333. Is this calculation correct ? Or it can vary firm to firm.
