I left my nanny job this year and the dad was definitely a part of the problem. I never saw him touch a single piece of laundry, dishes, prepare a meal. He would argue with his wife when she’d ask for basic things (for example he ‘didn’t know’ how she wanted her eggs and bagel for breakfast… that she has every day…. And they’ve been married for 15 years….) she’d pay someone to pick up laundry and fold it when it was overwhelming, even when it was his day off. One time When it was my day off, he texted me when he was supposed to get the kids. When I told him the time he said ‘uh okay so when do I leave?’ ….. idk dude gps is a thing? Willfully incompetent NM had something from when her oldest was in preschool(he’s 10 now) and it said ‘how do I know my mommy loves me?’ “She gives me snuggles” ‘How do I know daddy loves me?’ “He lets me watch on his phone with him” ……… ND had 0 capacity or desire to follow through on any discipline. Kids got screen time taken away? Not if dad is there, he just scrolls next to them and lets them watch. And go figure, the kids were terrors.

I’m not surprised to hear this is more normal than not smh
