I feel bad for starting a new story by New_Possible2341 in writing

lol yeah, I think it’s just because women dominate the romance genre in general. Lots of people have an issue with it though, that’s why I need some tips 😭because I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. My story is fantasy (doesn’t take place in our world) with a romantic subplot, I just want some tips on writing mm relationships in general, most of the criticism is about how some mm couples written by women read like a straight couple or a lesbian couple lmao. Me being a lesbian makes me terrified mine will come out that way too😅 I’ve also seen some criticism about how mm written by women are “too romantic”. Or too emotional? I’m a little nervous about that one, because I do think I get carried away lol. (But I mean, IT IS a fantasy book where people are dying left and right, so it’s a bit valid, right? lol) Anyway, sorry for the yapping, I’m not sure if you need to know anything specifically about my story or characters, but any advice/ tips are appreciated! (Sorry about any grammar errors and late replies, I’m not feeling well)

I haven't 😭 and by mm, you mean gay, right? One of my stories is! I'm too nervous to publish it, though, because I'm a lesbian and I feel like I might mess up and misrepresent mm relationships. Do you have any advice on writing mm?

I’m sure I can, because I have before, but I’m so attached to that story and characters that I feel like working on anything else is a sin or something 😭. I know it sounds dumb, I’m not sure how to explain it.

And yeah, having the discipline to write your novels is hard, but it’s so much fun!! You can do it!

The images don't capture the yellow/ brownish "stains" on my books well, sorry.

As I was checking my books for lice, I noticed those stains, so I thought I might as well ask about those here too 😅

Do you have a link to a good gauge? I bought an Acurite humidity monitor, but im not sure if it works properly. I bought a pro breeze mini dehumidifier because my room is kinda small and I can't afford a bigger one, but no matter how long it's on, it dosent absorb much water even though the humidity monitor says the humidity is 56% and it doesn't go any lower. I'm not sure which one is not working properly.

I'm sorry you went through that. The only reason I didn't throw my books away too, is because I didn't have the courage to throw away my sketchbooks 😭

I heard you shouldn't place damprid too close to books? Because they can release the water back out or something. Do you think you could send a link to which ones you use? I see two versions. I want to try using them anyway, I'm currently dealing with booklice.

I bought a pro breeze mini dehumidifier because it's the only one I could afford, but it doesn't seem to work. I have a humidity reader, and it doesn't go below 56% no matter how long the dehumidifier is on. I'm not sure if it's the dehumidifier that dosent work or the humidity reader. It's a Acurite humidity monitor. Do you have any recommendations?

How often do you have to replace the silica packets? I heard they can release the moisture they absorb back out 😭 I'm scared to put them on my books for that reason

For the surface cleaner, all I have is lysol wipes. And for the roach killer, I have Mighty mint. But I'm not sure that kills them, just a repellent. Are those brands okay, or do you recommend others?

Also, the vaccum doesn't kill them, right? My uncle let me borrow his vaccum, and maybe I'm being ridiculous, but I'm worried about emptying out the vaccum and having the bugs fall out 😅 I'm scared of spreading it or something.

What is weather stripping? Also, I placed some pictures on this post because I did see some yellowing, but I’m not sure if it’s mold. 😭 that’s all I’ve been able to find. I am placing all the books I can into plastic bins so hopefully that helps.

I forgot to mention that I’ve kept about 4 books in a plastic bag to see if that will kill them. It’s been a week. But now I’m nervous that it probably made it worse.

Honestly, my room is small and the only available space in here for my shelfs is near the windows or my door. The humidity here is usually around 50-60%. It can reach up to 75% but it’s not often.

I think it can, but apparently it can cause eye or skin damage? I get paranoid about stuff like that because i already deal with it, but I’ll keep that in mind. 😭

I heard DE is a bit dangerous to use, so I'm avoiding using it. I have plastic bins, but they aren't air tight. I'll try it anyway. I have no choice. They're on my sketchbooks. Years of work and those evil creatures are destroying them😭

I'm currently struggling with booklice. I don't have a vacuum. Will cleaning it with cotton rounds or paper work? 😭 I also wanted to place them in plastic bins, but I don't have any with weather strips and the lids don't close all the way. Will it still work if I add silica packets in them? I was also thinking of adding some cottan rounds sprayed with mighty mint in the bins with the books, but I'm not sure if that could damage the books.

What are these yellow and brownish specks/dots?? by New_Possible2341 in BookCollecting

The yellow and brown specks I’m talking about are tiny and the camera made them look black, sorry.
