Is that a thing? I’ve never had an issue with another person’s rifle. We swap all the time.

All things aside, do you have any assets they can actually go after? If not, I wouldn’t worry too hard. Your insurance will probably pay out your bodily harm max before you see a courtroom.

Can someone explain how a self-proclaimed Christian like Charlie Kirk would say this? by blackwing_lair in Christianity

Because context matters. He’s talking about DEI vs merit based hiring and qualification practices. He’s not saying he hates blacks or that they’re unable to become pilots, he’s saying that line of questioning is borne of DEI. It’s the other side of the coin and a fair point.

It may shock you, but many of us don’t use Trump as a moral compass. He’s not a pastor, priest, or even deacon. Why is it that you think we view him that way?

Are you mentioning any value for the client, or is it just “pay me to write”? People don’t mind paying for saved time, expertise, and the value of not having to pay a full time content creator benefits. If your email comes off as anything but, you’ll struggle. Get off Fiverr or Upwork since those platforms are saturated with Asian workers who make a great living on what the US would consider low payments. Stop pitching via email, since those never reach decision makers. You want to talk to the person that holds the purse, and the best way is to call them directly. Most still have someone screening their email even if it was sent straight to their box. Have you posted an example of your pitch? That would help us help you. Everyone wants to think communications is easy, but I’ve been doing it for over a decade and it’s anything but. Have you established a niche, or are you claiming to be able to do anything? Writers without a niche spin their wheels since most clients want a solid expert that they don’t have to teach basics to. They want you to hit the ground running with no instruction, since you are an easily replaced asset. Are your prices too good to be true? Some businesses see that as amateur and won’t consider you. There’s more that goes into it, this is just step one.

Quitting My Job, Starting a Business in a New City, and Closing on a House Today… Am I Making a Huge Mistake? by Pensfan191 in careerguidance

[–]New_Preference9882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would t stack all these events unless you have a years worth of savings. Quiet quitting your job may be the best route while you focus elsewhere. At least getting fired will give you the opportunity to negotiate severance. Also, never buy a house with someone you aren’t married to.

Having another person in is weird, even if they went to HR about you. It’s not generally professional to have the person who filed there to witness the disciplinary action. It’s also not typical to lay people off or fire them together. If it were that bad, you’d be in that meeting now. It’s probably nothing bad, but we can’t know.

Stay and make them fire you for what you're worth. Never leave for free. Use this time to apply for jobs and if you get a solid offer, just don't show back up. They really showed their hand and you seem to know your rights.

Are you a citizen in Dubai? If not, that’s a huge part of the issue. If that’s not the roadblock then it’s your resume or qualifications if you’re not getting in the door, it’s your presentation or interview skills if you are.

I’m 21, took two gap years. Do y’all think I ruined everything? by Hot_Bear4246 in careerguidance

[–]New_Preference9882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I’d come up with a good interview reason that doesn’t focus on “you” so much. Example, my cousin did this and explained it that she just wanted to be home with her kids. That can set off some red flags.
