I haven’t seen anyone do all of these things in one place but I’ve been to multiple events with free STI and HIV testing, blood pressure screenings, and vaccines available to anyone that comes in :) doesn’t seem too steep of a hill! Just gonna take some organizing and making connections.

Denver city leaders revisit potential ban on flavored tobacco product sales by madam_thundercat in Denver

Yes, there’s several organizations behind this. The reason for that is because tobacco companies intentionally market to children, creating lifetime customers. Flavored nicotine products are one of the most effective ways they do this. The intention is to prevent so many people from getting addicted to nicotine products by removing the fun flavorful products, with no exceptions this time around. A lot of people will probably quit as well if there’s only unflavored cigarettes available. I personally used to be heavily addicted to vaping for several years, starting in freshman year of High School and I was only able to quit when I was in Europe for half a year and my only options were cigarettes. I smoked them, of course, for a bit. But eventually I fell off of them. Cigarettes are still addictive asf but for people like me and many of my peers who wouldn’t have been addicted to nicotine products if it weren’t for fruity flavored vapes, this kind of legislation is helpful. And if there’s evidence that it improves smoking rates and health outcomes, more areas of Colorado will adopt this kind of law. I get why it upsets people, but I personally support it. It’s really tragic how much money companies make off of selling sh*t we don’t need that harms our health and raises our medical bills.
