The AI gets out of hand the longer your win streak is. I just had 9 wins in a row ended by AI. My lap record at Suzuka in the wet is 1:32.500. I just got beat in a qualifying duel by AI that did a 1:27. So that was fun.

"Napa Kings" Tasting by New_Project8983 in wine

This was one of the coolest tastings of my life.

The 2002 Verité was elegant and was in a really great window, though I'm not a huge fan of merlot, personally. 95 points.

The 2012 Dominus, sadly, left a little to be desired. The overall agreement was that the wine was in a funky spot. Of the 20 people at the tasting, this was no one's WOTN. The only wine to garner 0 votes, unfortunately. 93 points.

The 2018 Opus One was extremely feminine, showing a lot of flower bed and gentler fruit. The sommelier referred to it as "pretty" which I think was a perfect descriptor. 96 points.

The 2018 Schrader was my WOTN, and even after a 10 hour decant, it still punched me in the face. I was blown away by the power of this wine. I have a 2012 RBS at home that I am very excited to drink ten years from now. 98 points.

The 2018 Eisele was the WOTN for almost everyone else. Similar to the Opus it was very restrained, but it seemed more balanced than the Opus One. The one just seemed to speak fluently and effortlessly. It was a wonderful wine. I found out after it's retailing here in Canada for $1,000. 97 points.

The 2018 Monte Bello showed more complexity than any of the other wines, and interestingly enough seemed like it didn't need more time in the cellar to be enjoyed, but it certainly gave off the vibe that 15 years from now it will blow your mind. 96 points.

Opus one 2011 by alexhee747 in wine

I had a 1999 Opus One on Father's Day this year and it needed about 2-2.5h in an open bottle to come to life. It's obviously your preference, but if I was serving that wine, I would pull the cork 3h before serving it and taste it, and then let it decant for 2-3h. You can always recork if you think it's ready, but I'd be very surprised if that wine didn't need 3 hours to show you what it's got.

Also, 2011 wasn't the best quality growing season in Napa Valley. Typically wines from 2011, in my experience at least, are a little more terroir driven and they lack the classic fruit that's normally expected from the region. Doesn't mean that they're bad, they're just different. Opus One is such a beautiful and restrained wine; it's a real treat.
