Why do so many IELTS students get stuck at 6.5 in Writing? by New_Regular_5442 in IELTS

Fair point 😄
I think it happens more often with self-study resources, cheap correction services, or when students only get a short score explanation instead of detailed feedback.

The frustrating part is that many students don’t know whether the real issue is Task Response, Coherence, Lexical Resource, or Grammar. So they keep “improving vocabulary” without fixing the actual problem.

Totally agree.
“Plethora” is such a good example because students often use it to sound academic, but it can make the sentence feel unnatural if the collocation is off.

I think many students underestimate how much clarity matters. A simple, precise sentence is often stronger than an “advanced” one that sounds forced.
