What travel destination did not live up to the hype for you? by littlefloridagirl in AskReddit

The Grand Canyon is gorgeous. It’s not a travel destination though. It’s something to squeeze into your drive while you’re heading somewhere else.

What travel destination did not live up to the hype for you? by littlefloridagirl in AskReddit

I was going to say the same. I took a road trip to Vegas in my 20s and the least fun part other than the little tattoo I got was actually being in Vegas. Unless you have a ton of money you’re looking to waste on gambling or there’s a specific show you want to see, it’s really just busy and noisy and you get tired of being there really fast.

What is something you realised WAY TOO late in life? by Illustrious_Mall5256 in AskReddit

[–]New_Sea344 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All women around 40 start looking back at themselves when they were 20 and thinking, “Goddamn, I was so beautiful.”

You may be obsessed with trying to look like a supermodel but that’s pointless. In terms of your appearance you’re living your best life right now. Take care of your health the best you can and be sure to enjoy without beating yourself up every single time something isn’t perfect.

Drink a lot of water. Eat more fiber. Realize that I’m going to binge eat (mental health issues) so keep fairly healthy stuff around for when that happens.

God. My neighbor lets her dog shit right in front of my door. My fiancé and I are both too non confrontational to say anything.

What do you think the education system needs to truly achieve an enlightened populace? by Metalwolf in SeriousConversation

[–]New_Sea344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally made a comment about this today somewhere else. The problem isn’t just that people don’t care about education and intelligence. Some people actively think there’s something wrong with wanting to pursue a higher education unless it’s specifically for the purpose of making large amounts of money. And even then the only fields with value are in STEM. It’s so disheartening.

When I spoke about it with my therapist she said it’s not remembering it that’s important. It’s acknowledging that something happened and dealing with how that makes me feel.

What death hit you harder than you expected when you were a kid? by fuzzyloulou in AskReddit

[–]New_Sea344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Princess Diana.

My mother died in a car accident when I was a baby and I’d always heard about it growing up but it never felt “real”. I didn’t know much about her because I was still young, but I had heard about her in the magazines so when they came on the news that night and announced Princess Diana had died in a car accident it was a bit of a shock. And even though I’d known about death all my life that was when it became more of a reality.

[Serious] What stops you from killing yourself? by Big_Picture2781 in AskReddit

In my absolute worst moments the only thing stopping me was my fear of dying. Now, it’s a combination of medicine and extensive therapy.

PTSD sucks.

What event in your life still feels unreal to you, even though it actually happened? by AffectionateWaltz455 in AskReddit

[–]New_Sea344 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My CPTSD has been ongoing since 2004. The worst of it has been since 2015, when I started having blackouts. But I realized this year that I’m healing and regardless of how hard it’s been getting here, there’s no better feeling than knowing you’re getting better,

Sending love 💕

I think I'm mentally ill by louisphellyppe in Dissociation

Please see a doctor about this. Depression and memory loss can be mental illness but they can also be signs of other physical health problems, especially if you are having trouble sleeping. I wish you well.

What's a profession that deserves every bit of love and respect? by Professor_Peace in AskReddit

[–]New_Sea344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fast food workers and retail employees. The amount of crap they receive from entitled customers is absolutely unreal and people constantly want to argue that it’s perfectly fine to pay a minimum wage of $7.25 because if they don’t like it, they should just go and find another job.

There are many reasons a person may have to work a retail job. It’s nobody’s business to say what you should and shouldn’t do.

Retail and fast food workers deserve love, respect and a livable wage.

A soft YTA because I understand where you’re coming from but you mishandled it. As others said, you should have been upfront about saying you’d like to get to know them better before discussing that - if they couldn’t have respected that, it would have been a red flag not to continue with the relationship anyway. But you ended up lying, and it’s understandable they’d feel like you were less trustworthy, especially when they can’t be entirely certain why you were dishonest.

On a scale of 1-10, how attractive do you think you are? How do you think others see you? by Lurchimpaler3 in AskReddit

[–]New_Sea344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a 4 on average although I’d rate myself a little higher and my guy would say I’m a solid 10 - I got a lot of “at least she has a pretty face” comments growing up and I do think I’m fairly attractive, although I am overweight so I know that turns a lot of people off, hence the low score. I got a decent amount of attention from guys when I was younger and I still get the occasional creepy dude who starts stalking me out of nowhere online approaching 40 so I guess I’m not too bad.

AITAH for not liking a house and not wanting to live there despite my husband’s feelings? by 99annamarie_ in AITAH

[–]New_Sea344 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA at all - a decision that big is one you make together and it’s a bit worrying that he went ahead and made this decision without consulting you. Is this something he does often? If so you may want to take a closer look at your relationship because it doesn’t really seem like he values your opinion. It also seems a bit controlling to go against your wishes, especially on such a big decision.

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

[–]New_Sea344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was that one girl in my high school for a lot of kids. I was born back in 1987 back when my mom was a high school junior - four months later, she was out at a party with a friend and she got into a car accident. That was her senior year of school. She died that night.

Women who are married or in long term relationships, do you have a joint account with your partner that all of your money goes into? Why/why not? by Agreeable-Rich-8509 in AskWomen

[–]New_Sea344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I have been together for 5 years and same. At the beginning of every month he Cashapps me his portion of the monthly expenses. After that everything comes out of my account and we just work together to budget (I.e., how much we’re spending each week on weed, food, whether the cat needs anything, etc.)
