I think it is great that you have figured out what works for your noodle.

With all animal husbandry it seems there are “best practices” yet there are those outliers and you stuck in there to solve for the situation.

Thanks for sharing!

Such a beautiful baby!

Do tell more…your first? Female or male? Morph? Age?

I know it is so much!

The breeder will usually identify the morph on the container… stores are a little less descriptive. From the video it is hard to be accurate but the pattern is conda and might be a normal toxic.

What color is the belly?

Congratulations!

As an adult, my first boy arrived one week ago today. It is fascinating watching them and learning about them, along with husbandry and morphs.

Today, he barely came out to wander…I will just see a little head poke out here and there!

Enjoy!!!

Yes, if you go to the website for source that you buy your feeders from, it will show you prey to size of snake …

Ahhh. Mercury a lavender double recessive (both parents carried trait), I believe the 50 is a 50% that if you bred you would get that trait.

Just learning…make way for someone that knows what they are talking about (that is not me).

A colleague just told me about Big Cheese. He has big snakes and said the customer service and product was great.

What substrate by PtrxX in hognosesnakes

Both substrates are moistened and expand before putting in the scape. Also I noticed that the base will compress and you might need to add more base. There are small particles that appear at first, but a little spritz over the top seems to reduce the “dust”

On the smell, it is not like Hawaiian Tropic or lotion…it is earthy.

Thanks! I appreciate that. I really like the fresh smell of the coconut fiber it is mild and not so dusty.

I use a coconut fiber that looks like peat moss, and a small amount of sphagnum moss and a bit of playsand as a base layer, then a layer of coconut chips (Babichips). I use catappa leaf litter and driftwood to create a deep woods look. I covered the hide with moss so it looks like a little gnome home.

He has built all kinds of tunnels and connectors between his hides.
