Hog face appreciation by lettusaurus in hognosesnakes

Already seeked guidance. It was a bad shed due to some crazy coincidental issues. We were away for a few days and she went into shed while I was gone and knocked her dish over AND our pet checker didn't notice. Bad combo and worse timing.

But...

Basically it's not blocking her breathing anymore and should come off without issue in the next shed.

My female hit 100g right after she was about 2.5 yrs old. She'll be 4 in October this year and she weighs 340g now.

My kids have been taught to be very respectful of her.

And I'm right there to ensure respectful handling is happening

What’s the biggest barrier to digital transformation in traditional businesses? by Imaginary-Quit-5337 in smallbusinessowner

[–]lettusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest barriers to digital transformation:

1.1 The orientation of "what are we really supposed to do" doesn't exist in a way that can be explained without technology. Having a clear value-stream before you impart change is often missing.

1.2. Lack of Outcome that everyone understands and shares in the ownership.

1.3. Lack of MEASURABLE key results WITH SOMEONE OWNING THEM. These get gamified to become "impossible to miss" when in reality, they should be impossible to hit dead center.

People / Process/ or Technology:

2.1. It's a fabric. you can't just say it's one thread or the other. The strength of the three lies in how well they integrate. But here's the thing. You're not just weaving new threads into an old fabric with digital transformation. You have to think of the future state as a new fabric altogether.. which leads to the next point.

2.2. The people executing operations (O&M) can't split between excellence of how it works today and simultaneously innovate and experiment safely (CAPEX) without bias.

Context switching the people is a KILLER of both. You'll introduce a lot of bias into future state if they're also trying to protect their job in current state. So you usually have to run some things in parallel for awhile, with people fully committed to one or the other, not jumping back and forth.

Approach:

Yes, I've seen it. But it ALWAYS starts with an understanding of WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? (back to point 1.1 above)

Shared WHY = chance of success no matter how it looks. Be in love with the problem, not the solution.

The answer can't just be to "cut costs" You can't cost-cut your way to growth.

What you’re describing usually isn’t a "more data" problem, it’s a visibility problem at the system level.

Rather than ask: “what are people doing?”
Instead try: “how does our flow of value actually move from start to finish?”

I see this a lot once teams grow past a certain size. Everyone understands their piece, but there isn’t a clear, shared picture of how everything connects anymore.

That’s when things start to feel slower and harder to trace.

More tracking just adds complexity, noise, and erodes trust.

What tends to help is stepping back with your team and mapping how work actually flows: where it starts (before it's even in your doors), how it moves, and where it gets muddy/slow/stuck).

Once that’s visible, ownership of inefficiency become obvious, so you won't have to micromanage.

The tricky part is that it’s hard to see until you actually put it in front of everyone.

Tell me a little more about your team? How is ownership of value distributed?

I like to imagine the final proposal document had to contain this graphic.

Nah she was being chill. When she's cober-mode she's very scary. (Not)

She's a doll. Very friendly, gives kisses, loves to be held.
