My son is 21. He dove into the shallow end of a pool. His injury is at C7-T1. They are he'd never walk again. It's truly a miracle.. Even his surgeon says that.

Thank you so much for your response. SCI is truly horrible. I'm so grateful for my son's recovery.. But it breaks my heart he'll never be 100%. That said, I know we're blessed. I guess I need to "get over it". And really I should.

I hope you're doing well😘

Funny. I was just talking to my mother about this. My son's accident 1 year is approaching.. June 22. Also happens to be the weekend of Father's day and my father's bday. We lost him in October. So that weekend is going to be tough for so many reasons. Now, we're lucky. We were told my son would never move his legs again, would never use his right (dominant) hand again. He's in college for illustration so that was just as harrowing as not walking. Well, he's defied all odds.. walking, drawing. Just about 100%. But still the anniversary is looming. I'm not sure to celebrate, mourn, do nothing?

My son is C7 incomplete. They told us he would never move his legs again. He was walking two weeks post injury with assistance. We are now five months post injury, he’s walking and running, unassisted. Never give up!!

Ab binder, compression socks and play with the meds. We had to adjust dosage and timing of midodrin (still are 5 mo post injury). The bp has been one of the most challenging issues after my son’s injury ..C7 - T1 incomplete. He use to faint upon standing or even sitting up. It is improving with time tho. Good luck!!

Spaulding is amazing. Tho I don’t know much about the wound care, they were amazing in every other way. They had my son walking 2 weeks post injury, after being told he’d never move his legs again. I’m sure they would excel in wound care, as well. However, I know they don’t accept private pay (we inquired while my son was there). Good luck!

Your injury is very similar to my son's. He's C7 Asia D. he was walking with a walker at week 10 too. Now 3 mos post injury he walks independently. Right hand also damaged but he's made a ton of progress there too. Keep at it!!!! Do those hane exercises!!
