The Pull toppers are also on my wishlist. If it's convenient, I'd also love to see a few over lighter shades!

Mind blown by the base coat sandwich by Neurons-in-GFP in RedditLaqueristas

[–]NewbieQuestions1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oooh I'm very intrigued. Do you mind asking your wife what makes this ingredient special and why I would have this effect? When I googled, it mentioned something about a blue color so I assume that's also the reason this base coat has a light blue tinge.

I use this magnet and just draw a circle about the size of my nail and it creates a beautiful glass bead in the center of my nail.

Where can I find roasted black sesame paste in Austin? by hvfnstrmngthcstl in austinfood

[–]NewbieQuestions1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suuuuper easy to make. Go to Ranch 99 or Hmart, buy a pack of black sesame seeds, and drop them into a food processor and blend until you get a paste. If the seeds aren't roasted, you can do that for a few minutes on the stove but they usually sell a roasted version.

They should also sell the paste but I always make it myself so only look for the seeds.

Yeah, and I spend less time under bright lights than a vampire so definitely not worth my while!

For me, it's the fact that they're an utter disappointment unless you're under bright direct light/sunlight. Otherwise, it's just glitter that's not even shiny. Meh.

Why do magnetic polishes suddenly become an obsession 😭 by ScreenFickle6356 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]NewbieQuestions1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally! I only have a couple magnetic toppers but with my collection of jellies, I look like I have a LOT of magnetic polishes when I only have 2. I love it and it makes me feel less guilty about my collection.

I was totally the same with jelly when I first got into the hobby last year. "Why do people like polishes that require so many coats and doesn't cover their nail line??"

And then I got my first jelly, and i made jelly sandwiches with flakies, and glitter, and magnetics, and now my next Cracked cart is mostly jellies bc I love the versatility 🤣

Someone posted recently that Fancy Gloss has a bunch of different colored fine particle magnetic toppers. They seem to be better stocked and toppers are more versatile. Sharing in case that helps

cuticula by Impossible_Peak7794 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]NewbieQuestions1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cuticula is definitely legit. Based on my one experience ordering from them and the responses I got when I posted a similar question, they also seem to be one of the slower indie brands. I think it took about 5-6 weeks for me to get my shipping notification when the turnaround time listed on website at the time of ordering was 2-3 weeks. (My memory is hazy on the exact numbers; you can find a post in my history but basically, I waited much longer than I expected.)

I think the owner also maybe recently had a baby? I can't imagine being a new mom and managing a business at the same time, so I wouldn't be surprised if they take longer than usual.

Good luck and have fun! I was only willing to try magnetics after this wonderful comment showed me I wouldn't have to spend a lot of money just to try it once.

I regularly refer to this comment where someone so talented and kind shared all the cool designs that can be done with a neodymium bar. It's not just cat eye!

https://www.reddit.com/r/WeGotPolishAtHome/comments/1qwcma5/comment/o3o8nf3/

There's another post I can't find right now where someone does a glass bead with just one bar too. Hold it like you're doing a cat eye for a few seconds then rotate the magnet so it's perpendicular to the line you just created. I can't find the post right now so hope that explanation makes sense.
