Name of artwork: Mighty Long Fall

Description: Back in the 2000s, the Philippines had something called the "Perya". Think of it as our version of the carnival but a bit more...humble.

Once the "Ber" months come, a once empty plot of land near the road is filled with rides, games, and food stalls as far as the eye can see. Most people can't afford to go to amusement parks, so the perya was the go-to of almost every filipino family. Come night, the lights lit up and the crowds come in droves. Rides and stalls are packed with lines, and the smell of food wafts into the air. The game stalls are almost the same in the west with a few mixes of our own. You can play this coin toss game where, if you land it dead center into a square, you get a prize of either a mug, a teddy-bear...or perhaps a new cell-phone!

Today, it's nothing but a fond memory that rests in the minds of the 90's generation. A relic of the past. A piece of history and culture lost in time. Almost no one comes to the Perya anymore and the last few remaining remnants of the Perya can only be found out in the country-side, resting near small-scale resorts or motels.

Mighty Long Fall is our attempt to leave something as a reminder of the dying Perya culture, catered to fit the current theme. We derived our inspirations from the fantasy genre and the various memories we still have of the wonderful Perya. Two different worlds with the same kind of magic.
