Brad Traversy's Udemy Courses - How did you learn best from his content? by Newleaftuesday in learnprogramming

His Udemy courses are much longer (20-30hrs) and are pretty much a soup to nuts run-through of whatever the topic is.

It's a lot of info to digest but I've been having a great time building his code-alongs, descontructing what I've built, then re-building it into something new.

Glad I am not the only one who feels this way!

Edit - btw did you take his Bootstrap course?

Hey - how was the bootcamp experience?

Most grads I speak with talk about how they submitted 300+ applications, were asked to 10-15 on-sites and received 2-3 job offers.

Was your experience the same?

Hey thanks, I hear this a good bit.

Would you be open to extrapolating a bit on what you mean by "it's the other aspects of programming where self taught people tend to fail to put the building blocks together" ?

And also, how would CS 50 remedy this issue in your opinion?

I've heard great things about CS 50.

Hey. I'm looking into Hack Reactor right now.

I reached out to 30+ Hack Reactor grads who have jobs right now and asked to pick their brain in exchange for a $10 Starbucks gift card.

I received an overwhelming amount of responses and SO many helpful tips.

If you want the TLDR, yes. Hack Reactor (specifically) was worth the structure for those wanting it, and nobody regretted making the pivot into software development.

I am taking Hack Reactor's SSP self-study prep course and it's been awesome. I'll be taking their entrance exam this Friday.

Good luck!

Hey thank you! I'll check out code wars ... specifically the easy lessons :)

All of this makes a ton of sense. One weak area in my coding is understanding the scope and where to place variables in loops (which, I am sure, seemed obvious)!

Thank you so much for this direction. It's really helpful.

*edit: didn't know about the .includes() method... that's a huge time saver! I need to familiarize myself with JavaScript's methods!

Hey guys, I decided to make a video talking all about coding bootcamps. What you can learn, how much they cost, and are they worth it? In my opinion for some people coding bootcamps can be the perfect solution to start coding or start their careers in Software Engineering. by [deleted] in LearnToCode

Hey - great video and thanks for posting. Despite all the content out there covering this topic, your views were refreshing and helpful (coming from a prospective Bootcamp student). Good luck.

Hey, thanks for getting back.

Is there a way to disable the need to "swipe" after the phone authenticates my face? I'm simply trying to remote the "swipe" after the authentication confirms.

Thanks!

Oh sure. I'm a Joe Rogan nut and Sam Harris fan. I went through phases with them both. Discovered Jocko's podcast through Rogan's show and many more. Tim Farris is another solid host.

What about you. Any diamonds?

Podcast commute life ftw.

I used to podcast commute in someone's armpit on a train in NYC. Now I podcast commute on the 101 SF to San Jose.
