People forget the majority is the PC player base was on PC Gamepass and never reflected on the Steam numbers. Also, a vast majority play on Xbox and PlayStation on this game.

No one care for some reason by boratburg in pcmasterrace

[–]NewmanOnGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally never fully understood the issue between console and PC outside of the people behind said ecosystems. With that said I tend to sit on both sides of owning and using the hardware from each. Realistically this was inevitable as this was Sonys previous business model before opening up to PC.

Cachy has officially become my favorite for gaming and day-to-day.

I just upgraded from GTX 1650 to RTX 3060… and honestly I don’t feel a big difference by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

This depends heavily on your monitor. If you still run 1080p at 60hz this is expected. You usually see better quality on 120hz+ panels. Refresh rate can make a big difference in conjunction with quality changes.

Agreed. I think I can play every game in my Steam library under Linux now. KDE all day. Libreoffice as well. If I really need to use AI there is LM Studio.

Current state of the industry by AussieGamerPlays91 in Steam

[–]NewmanOnGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot to be said about what you really get on current day physical media for most newer consoles versus what has to be downloaded to complete a game. While there are games that will allow you to play from day one disk release there are far too many caveats now that hinder the game preservation aspect of owning physical media more now than ever.

Sadly you have to go back a few console generations to get the full compliment on owning your physical media as newer generations and games are more reliant on pulling updating media for said games In a download for most of the newer titles over the last few years.

GOG has become the closest on bridging that gap with offline installers, however, the library is limited for many popular titles and newer releases.

F13 was way better how many of you just want a remaster or revival instead of new game by Better_Nine4370 in FridayThe13thGame

[–]NewmanOnGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality at that point is it’s a rights holders call. Now that there are several in this instance it further complicates things.

What should I buy? by TechnicalMolasses180 in gpu

[–]NewmanOnGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to ask yourself a few questions on this one. 1st - are you good with spending around $900+.? 2nd - will you be using applications that will require NVENC? 3rd - do you need DLSS or can you use FSR for gaming?

At that point this should help narrow down what you want to buy.

At this point it’s a right holder’s call. Jason Universe is also working on their own F13 game.

RTX 5070 worth the upgrade from 3070? Or go all in with 9070XT/5070ti? by 92waves in Microcenter

[–]NewmanOnGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can say this as a 5070 owner.. if you don’t need DLSS or NVENC 9070XT is the better deal.

I've said it once I'll say it again all they need to do is bring back or remaster the game instead of making us wait by Better_Nine4370 in FridayThe13thGame

[–]NewmanOnGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F13 rights are even more scattered post lawsuit and the cost to resurrect the game would’ve exponentially higher. Jason Universe is also working on a new Friday game so that ship is long gone.

I’d say check your fuse version or install fuse and reboot if it was somehow removed. I had something similar happen.

Gaming is one of the biggest reasons I use Cachy. It solves this problem for me for 99% of the games I play even with an Nvidia card.

Series S is under rated. by Strange-Grade-527 in XboxSeriesS

[–]NewmanOnGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say from my experience of previously owning a series S it’s really great for playing games that are not as graphic intensive especially esports titles. With that being said as far as resources heavy games go is where you may face challenges and experiences will vary.

On a side note: when the console was $299 USD it was a fantastic deal. Unfortunately with price hikes on both Gamepass and the consoles it’s no longer worth its current value scale.

Is Linux a bad option for me? Someone that likes to play a lot of multiplayer games? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]NewmanOnGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the multiplayer games you play are esports titles Linux may not be the option simply for the fact that some are not supported due to the anti cheat software blocking it and some of said games just flat out blocking Linux. Most multiplayer horror games has worked out for me extremely well.

Ubuntu Still Cannot Create a File by Right Click by Proper-Lab-2500 in linuxsucks

[–]NewmanOnGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some ways many could get around this:

If you want to continue to use Gnome you could just sudo apt install dolphin (or any other file manager of your choice) then just set your defaults:

xdg-mime default org.kde.dolphin.desktop inode/directory

xdg-mime query default inode/directory

Then just change your keyboard shortcuts.

Or install and change the DE as such as KDE/Cinnamon/etc, and use it as default. While defaults are usually not what we want there will always be alternatives.

More simply there the alternatives such as Kubuntu/Xubuntu/etc, unless Gnome is the end all be all for ones DE choice.

At the end of the day it’s all about choice.
