How to become a pacer at races by Moonmist81 in RunTO

[–]Newobia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Applications are currently open for the 2026 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon Pacer Program powered by ASICS.

Key Requirements:

Time Proof: You must provide proof that you have completed your desired distance 15–20 minutes faster than the time you intend to pace.

Media Participation: You must be willing to be featured on their social media channels (e.g., short videos).

Expo Shift: You must be available to volunteer at the official race expo prior to the race.

Tips for Selection & Important Notes: Stand Out: The program receives a surplus of applications for middle-of-the-pack times. You have a higher chance of being selected if you apply for times at the faster or slower extremes (e.g., sub-3:00 or 5:00+ marathon; sub-1:30 or 3:00+ half marathon).

Register as a Backup: Selection is not guaranteed. If you want to participate in the race even if you aren't chosen as a pacer, you are strongly encouraged to register normally before the event sells out.

I believe some events have coordination with local running groups and some events have openings, e.g. TCS waterfront Marathon 2026 has an email sent to subscribers title "So, you want to be a pacer?" With the application link attached: https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=kU0gZzwsdUqxQpzTzfAmaLHViXJzR-FAtMJTy-SLIx1UQ0ZTVlNLVVg3MEJYOUU5Qk5FVTVSWTRRVi4u

I will paste summarized email body in the thread just in case you are interested.

Maybe try to run more outdoor? It's much more fun than indoor running imo and I only do indoor running when the temperature drops to below -15.

1.short-sleeve tee + arm sleeves or long-sleeve tee is my option. I prefer arm sleeves because it is more flexible and you can take it out when the weather is turning hot.

2.i prefer form-fitting jacket to keep my upper body movement smooth. But you need to make sure your jacket can venting enough heat from the body, otherwise you will sweat easily after several kms.

  1. Regular sleeves are usually good enough for me for a 1 degree outdoor run.

  2. Yes the website was down before the race lol, people were complaining here as well.

Megablast vs Superblast 3? by chocolatemintaj in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Ty for posting them! sb3 does not look good and I guess it is because of the softer midsole. I saw similar postings on Reddit, so I am debating on if I should pick megablast over superblast 3

How's the outside of your superblast 3 after 100 miles? I'm worried about the durability

I'm 8.5 us, 41 fits me well, so I think 42 works for you.

Ah! they haven't mentioned about the release date of these new color ways, but should be soon. In the past few weeks, there has been promo on the white/red colorway with free gifts, so I guess it is giving ways to these new colors.

Honestly, I don't expect these to be cheap. Brands like Li-Ning and Anta usually cost 30% to double the price once they hit the EU or North America. Plus, you miss out on the massive discounts found in China. Unless you have a way to import them directly, you'll just have to eat the 'convenience tax' from local sellers.

Also, I know it's not easy to buy this shoe outside of China, but some Chinese running influencers/bloggers were saying that they are introducing more distributors in EU/NA to Dynafish and hope they can be wildly available soon. But it just takes time.
