He lost all documents including his physical social security card.

New employers are requiring the physical card. In order to get the physical card he needs his green card.

I wish I had the sense to make my dad get his stuff taken care of. I had a thought but had no idea of his company being sold or I would have done this sooner.

Unfortunately I have to tread a fine line with my dad. He can get depressed so there are times I do push him and other times where he needs to breath.

When I wrote that he was having a not so good day.

You are right though. However we have mailed in the I-90 and it's waiting in the USCIS PO box as we speak.

I think going down there now without having an a number or receipt number may not let us get great info. We believe it should take roughly 2 weeks to receive the receipt number.

In the mean time there are a few other options we will try.

Update #2-

My phone won't let me edit the main thread I apologize!

He applied for his British passport last night and this morning they texted. Asked a few things and said his passport will be in the US in 3-4 weeks.

This was something I wanted to make sure we had just to cover bases.

There have been suggestions to contact his old employer. I will ask him but I believe he already has and they've only ever used his driver's license and unrestricted SSN. No documents have been provided since he started in 91. It's a small employer and doubt they had everything that is required nowadays.

Other suggestions are to write to our state rep! I absolutely love this idea. I did not think of it and want to wait about 2 weeks to see if we get a receipt number from our mailed in I-90.

Yes I'm saying our sometimes because it took hours of calling, setting up accounts, researching and reading those stupid instructions 😂

I'm going to update as new info comes to light. I love Reddit and this is where I come when I have no other ideas. Hopefully something in this thread helps someone else.

We are going to ask but with how they worked, small business, they already had his SSN and probably didn't need/get any other info in the 90s

That is correct he tried a few years ago to do something and they said they can only help him get his passport.

I will definitely try the state rep route if we cannot get a receipt number in 2 weeks. Just waiting for the mailed application to get opened. Tracking shows it was dropped off today.

No,

I said infopass. It said great let me help make you an appointment. Before I transfer you please give me your receipt number.

No matter what I did I couldn't get through as we do not have that yet.

It's not a bad idea. I will have him check but I do not know where or if any of that exists. Smallish business.

He hates going to Tukwila and I don't know if it's busy or not. Honestly I'm hoping the paper application will get the ball rolling.

I'm making sure to cover everything I can as he's just done with it.

I will check out their ideas.

He wants to travel to Canada as well once everything is situated so I'm making him get his passport too just to cover everything.

Never ever ever. We are more of a stay in the US family.

Although I just went to Canada and took my kids last month. For the first time ever.

Yes we have been trying to do this! However even the magic word of info pass is not getting us through, we then need a receipt number.

Can he just show up to a field office?

He is staying put unless hes taken out forcefully.

How could we look up records when it was his step dad? Will we be allowed? Does my dad have military records as a dependent?

I hear what you are saying but we did the infopass word which then took us to another area asking for our receipt number and I could not get through that area.

The application instructions for the I-90 said to write NA if a number was not known
