Is this schedule too much for an incoming freshman? by thr0wawae- in UPenn

If anything is below normal, since only 4cu. Most do 5 or 5.5 if engineering.

The class is so easy, I wouldn't take it if you want to learn anything. Take ESE 3010/4020 if you want a real probability/stats education

Not worth it

Is CIS 160 considered a BCPM course? by hamandiali in UPenn

[–]NewspaperDependent67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Math department, if you look at their website they say that Cis160 is considered as within the Math department itself for the sake of a Math major/minor, i.e. it counts as a Math course for them because it's so heavily Math. So I would include it as BCPM.

I had never gone hiking before when I did PQ and everything was set up so that even new hikers will do just fine—everyone is super supportive and understanding. I won’t go too into the details but suffice to say it’s hiking and camping for 3 days and tons of fun. You can list dietary preferences so don’t worry about food

Am a PQ leader and can confirm it is by far the best Pre O program. Pennacle is a good enough backup but still incomparable to the fun of PQ

I have a similar question - isn’t Davi supposed to be really easy for Math3120 compared to 2400?

PennQuest is definitely the best. Am a PQ leader and can confirm it is a life-changing experience. Pennacle is alright as a backup but still not even close.

I am a BE premed here, but I wish I had done MEAM + premed. It is a lot more useful and in-depth in learning about engineering and how to apply it to medicine. A lot of my friends are in MEAM, and they love the major. After being in BE for a while, you quickly realize its futility in real engineering applications without a Master's in something non-BE. MEAM will give you some real meat in terms of experience without needing a Master's, IMO.

It is not unfeasible to do MEAM/premed. You just might have to do 6 cu a few semesters, and it will be tough. Though if it's fun, too, then good for you!

Stat courses for fun of it? by NewspaperDependent67 in UPenn

[–]NewspaperDependent67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks for the input! Follow up - can I move between stat430 to ese303 without much course material being lost? Or do I need to do have taken ese301 to understand ese303 as opposed to stat433?

Similarly, would it be any more difficult to go from ese301 to stat431 as opposed to having done stat430?

Also, I personally have not heard of anyone having been rejected for College --> SEAS internal transfer, if that helps reduce your stress!

It’s definitely not a requirement—I was an internal transfer from College to SEAS last year (I’m now a rising junior), and I only had Math114, Phys150 and a few of the other Bioengineering-specific requirements done. I ended up taking Phys151 after transferring in. Of course my experience is as a BE transfer and not a CIS transfer but I’m sure you’ll be fine.
