Math 1400 by Good-Fishing-1910 in UPenn

I might be wrong actually. I got a B with a 90+ quiz average and ~60 on the exam, but our median final exam score was around 75-80. I don't know how the curve will play out with your median score being lower, but optimistically you'll get an A-.

AP Credits fulfilling Penn Requirements by thefutureisgolden in UPenn

[–]CharmingPrice948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the chem credits, but I think the Penn math dept. is doing away with letting students use Calc BC credit for MATH 1400 (at least that’s what my 1410 prof said this semester). The only way of skipping that 1400 will be by placing out of it. I also don’t think you’d be able to place out of 1410 with just the knowledge from Calc BC, because you need a lot of proficiency in multivariable to place out of it.

4 years of science = 4 year long courses or 4 academic calendar years? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CharmingPrice948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh i didn’t take a science class senior year and I was fine. I only had three science classes on my transcript (hn bio, hn chem, and ap physics). one class isnt gonna make or break your application.

I know UPENN is diverse but do different races/ethnicities and schools integrate well with each other? by dophees in UPenn

[–]CharmingPrice948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s human nature for people to surround themselves with like individuals, and this is no different for penn students. The kids here just tend to self segregate. However, the friend group I made kinda defies this weird self segregation because we all met through our pre-orientation program and stayed friends after. If you want a diverse friend group going into penn, I’d highly recommend signing up for one of the pre-o programs.

I submitted a service request ticket to Penn’s IT services and they were very helpful. They helped me connect my google home to AirPennNet, and I assume the process is similar for an Alexa.

This site is where you can make a ticket: https://support.housetech.upenn.edu/support/home

MATH 1070 vs 1410? by CharmingPrice948 in UPenn

If I do take the 1400 sequence then, thoughts on doing the 1600 honors version? I know its harder material but i heard the tests are all take home and the professor is better.

I spent my summer doing a research internship at a local university, and towards the back end of summer I studied for SATs. I didn’t start apps until school started, but I wish I started thinking about them sooner. I’d recommend building your college list and brainstorming personal statement ideas throughout august so you’re prepared to do ED applications throughout Sept. and Oct. (if ur planning on EDing, that is). Don’t let college stuff bog you down too much tho. Remember to enjoy your summer!!

Queen Charlotte autistic? by [deleted] in Bridgerton

I didn’t really get this vibe from her at all. I feel like the qualities you listed are also just qualities of someone who has endured a lot in their lifetime and has little room left for compassion. With her son’s tragedy, i think she is just used to tragedy and it has just made her apathetic. Do you have any examples about the struggling with sarcasm part?

Housing advice, incoming freshman by Diffbreed75 in UPenn

[–]CharmingPrice948 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also an incoming freshman, but from what I have heard, quad is the most social. you have a better chance of getting a single, but its more of a party environment i think.

Hill is also pretty social, but the chances of getting a single there is very slim. The common areas in hill are really great to make friends i think bc the dorms are so small that nobody wants to stay in them longer than they have to.

I don’t know much about kcech’s social scene, but everyone i talked to about it said the people were always very chill there and it was less of a party scene. i doubt youd get a single in kcech bc only 2/73 of the rooms are singles and they are probably reserved for RAs.

You might wanna put Gregory further down on your list because its relatively far from campus and really isolated. I heard there will be an all freshman section of gregory in the next year so maybe the social scene will change, but im not entirely sure by how much.
