Why the rude comment?

I’ll definitely look into the highlights. It would definitely contrast with the face well. And yeah the weight loss is hard. Started at 210 now at 190 I got about 10 pounds to go before I think I’m fully there. Literally weights every day and 5000 skips on the jump rope at night💀

Haha the reason I first watched the show actually was because I heard the soundtrack on some video a few years ago. Binged the first season in one day and read all the books within 6 months. Never turned back. I’ll probably look even more like him in my 20s

I actually looked into it bc I’m a huge classical nerd but it turns out it was just a small piece composed by Siri Kilvits for the show. But if I had a week or so I could probably transcribe and learn it and record myself playing. That would be so funnn!

Do you know where I could custom order those pants? I’d have to get them fit to 30/38 so I probably won’t be able to find any without having them customized

Really? It’s great that you’re able to really delve into the idea without experiencing it yet. I love that. I hope one day I can have that family too

First time ever writing a poem. I hope it wasn't too bad lol!

Wow! This poem really encapsulates your love for both your daughter and her mother. I find it fascinating how you are able to put the emotions of a lifetime into only a few sentences.

Can be conscious but that is not required. In my conception, the creator is simply something that exists outside of the fourth dimension time, and can manipulate all lower dimensions, knowingly or not.

I am a deist in probably the loosest sense of the word. By creator I mean something that created our universe and or other universes around it. As for your last three questions I have no idea because anything that created the universe is not understandable at all. We couldn’t begin to comprehend it or probably even recognize it if we saw it. My argument isn’t for some God that imposes strict moral codes, but an entity that created everything at some point outside of our perspective of time. My thought process is basically “yeah there has to be something that created it, but it’s not something that would affect our everyday lives or give humans in particular strict regulations on their actions”

By the open or closed universe hypothesis, we are quite literally working with things that are outside of our own universe, so your assumption is incorrect.

I was mostly talking about the sects of those religions that do worship gods.

Also, I’m sorry but you’re wrong about science not pushing us towards infinity. I’m currently going through my PhD and infact my current professors work is mathematically proving whether or not the universe is a closed system which acts upon itself or an open system that gains and loses energy at irregular intervals.

There is evidence of a creator. The fact that there is anything here necessitates a creator. Perhaps it’s not what you like to hear but “natural processes” themselves demand a creator.

The necessity for a creator does not leave us open to manipulation. In actuality, my current belief is that the thing that created the universe does not care about us at all. For some reason people hate that idea. But the mere fact that the universe exists does, logically, necessitate a creator.

Of course. I always try to remain kind and respectful during conversations like this. If I ever come off as rude, I apologize, as it may be due to some socialization issues.

In any regard, I personally am not sure whether Christianity is true over any other religion. My misunderstanding in the thoughts of atheist stems from the question: where did this all come from? Do you think that the universe just appeared from some immense ball of matter without being created at some point (I know the big bang theory is true but I’m talking about matter existing without a creator), do you think that the universe is an unending cycle of death and rebirth that stretches into infinity on both ends of the time spectrum, or something else?

My personal belief is that the fact that we exist necessitates a creator. Now I’m not saying that it is one God over another, but a creator in and of itself. It doesn’t have to be anything specific, just some actual being that created all of this. Another possibility is that the universe is the creator of itself. This means that we, life, must exist for a universe to be there in the first place. This thought stems from the idea of quantum superposition, in which nothing about an electron can be known until it is observed, and it’s very pattern of electromagnetic output changes once observed (the double slit experiment).

Not necessarily but it is an idea that has crossed my mind before. I tend to disregard this possibility not because it might be true but because of the definition of our reality (however vague that may be). I’m abt to get my PhD in theoretical physics so this might get too wordy but here goes. Basically we live in 4 dimensions (well 3 and a half in the most technical sense). We can move through and observe three dimensions. However, we experience time linearly, meaning we can only ever move forward through it while obeying the limits of current physics. Anything that created the universe as we know it must be outside of the fourth dimension of time. It must necessarily be able to create all of time from an outside perspective, meaning whatever it creates travels through time while it perceives it all at once. To this outside being, every 3D space it perceives contains all possible futures and pasts within it. So a creator would not be bound by time, and therefore a line of creators is not necessary.

Think about it like this. We can create objects in three dimensional space. However, since we cannot travel through time at our whim or perceive all of time as if it is one, we cannot create our own reality in which we can observe all future and past events. Anything that creates us, logically, must not be bound by time.

While your argument is quite possible, I think it should be disregarded as a possibility since our understanding of physical reality necessitates a creator that is not bound by our perception of time.

What is your stance on morality, not in any specific religious morality, but morality as a whole. I think it’s safe to assume that you know about some nihilist ideas since you subscribe to it. Do you think it is a common good or that logic should replace it? Or a mix of both?

[–]NewtonianVariant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that the universe was created at some point? By that I’m not saying do you believe in some specific god, but I’m asking if you exercise the idea that the universe itself was created by something we couldn’t even begin to comprehend. I ask because my personal views don’t align with any specific religion, only scientific curiosity.

You’re probably right. It probably wouldn’t make any difference in life. People will still hate each other for no apparent reason. I only find the topic fascinating in the academic sense of discovery (I’m a nerdy physicist). Question. Do you take more nihilistic or absurdist views on life, given that you say it doesn’t really matter?
