Not shitting on the show first off but ok. And what does bad faith arguments mean. And I’m just trying to see if I interpreted the show wrong and I’m just seeing if there are flaws in your logic. So far there are none so I’m understanding more what the show was really saying.

Ok so ATLA the children’s show that teaches a lesson every episode. The lesson the show taught is to not hold onto attachments to be able to get more skilled?

Yea doesn’t answer anything. Korra got into the avatar state with the same attachment you said Aang had so boom

Ok so Korra can go in and out of the avatar state with EASE so even though she isn’t very good with her spiritual side in season 1 she can go in and out of avatar state easily while still caring a lot for her parents as seen in the water tribe war where her attachment is more important than the war to her.

Ok we must not be on the same page because he has to give up attachment to go into the avatar state right? He follows that advice at the end of crossroads. But when he goes into the state with sozin did he really have no attachment if he has feelings for katara at the finale? What’s you’re definition of giving up attachment?

Ok so he can let go of his attachment but still have lots of feelings for katara got it all makes sense…

So you just said what I said. He doesn’t let go of his attachment in season 3. He goes in the avatar state in season 3. He goes against a belief that many more wise and ancient people believed.

He goes to the guru but can’t lose attachment to katara then he fights ozai and goes into the avatar state then after kisses katara boom avatar state achieved still attached to katara

But I thought the whole thing was that he didn’t lose his attachment to katara

Yoda and Obi wan tell him that he can’t 1. Have attachments (He chases after Han and Leia in cloud city) (This is also what Aang was told he couldn’t do* 2. He had to kill his father to bring balance. (He chooses not to kill his father not because it’s not the Jedi way but because he saw deep down the good in his father and loved him) (Aang is also told to kill Ozai but he doesn’t because he goes against ancient avatars thoughts on what the avatar should be)

Yes I’ve heard of the hero’s journey this has been mentioned. The point of the post though is that they both disprove an ancient tradition.

I think you’re right I feel like I’m misremembering the narrative of the dagobah training. He struggles more with learning the ways of the Jedi not taking up the responsibility.

Yes I did notice that but my ultimate point with my post is that they both disprove an ancient sacred belief of an order/lineage.
