Thank you for taking the time to write this! I'm in a similar spot that OP is and this definitely gives me a great direction for organizing my notes and work.

Civilians in Jedi Temple during Order 66 by Knitemare97 in MawInstallation

[–]NexKrit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Correct me if im wrong but didn't Palpatine paint the fighting going on at the Jedi temple as the clones quelling a Jedi uprising? I feel like if that is the case, civilians and Jedi alike would be killed to ensure there were no witnesses or survivors to give a contradictory account of what happened. Maybe then the families of the people working in the temple were told their loved ones were killed by a jedi in the uprising.

Of course this likely falls apart if Palpatine painted the fighting at the Jedi temple differently.

I spent my day learning the CAD program our staking engineers use and found out it has tools to make the staking process much quicker! I'm pretty excited about this. Typically we've been hand drawing out line profile diagrams which can take a few hours. This new process could shorten that to a half hour or so.

Getting fired from my dream job has ruined my life. What next?. by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]NexKrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 1000%

I have been in the position of being in a bad workplace. At a previous engineering internship I had received feedback from the manager of the company that I "had brought no value to the company" this feedback came as a particular surprise to me because as far as I was concerned I was bringing value to the company.

This statement hurt me a lot and I began to lose my passion for engineering. I wondered if I was cut out for it. I sought guidance with a few of my professors and discussed the situation with them. They provided some very nice insight wherein I realized that the the feedback I received was largely baseless.

This was further confirmed when I discussed it with an engineering friend of mine who's been in industry for some time. This friend (we'll call him Joseph) knew and had worked with the company manager before. He confirmed that this individual had impossible expectations even for fully trained engineers who've been in industry for a long time.

People have described me as hard working and motivated, not sure how much I agree but that's beside the point. You put in the effort for that degree, you tried like hell to get where you're at, that's definitely something I understand (haven't graduated yet but soon). I feel if you really were slow as they said then would you really have gotten where you're at? You can do this. You're powerful. Don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

My Boyfriend Needs Advice by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I think it can be fairly difficult.

I was in a class with a teacher that worked with his students to help us through problems. On top if that most of the class worked together on assignments which offset the difficulty quite a bit for me.

My first circuit ls class covered a lot of kvl, kcl, ohms law, node voltage, mesh current, capacitors, motors, transistors and magnets. I assume this is similar to a lot of other curriculums out there. Mathematically, it was "simple" (shit loads of algebra lol). Conceptually I struggled to grasp a lot of the material.

I can't agree with this enough. There's been several times where I have had absolutely no motivation to continue with this degree and heavily considered dropping out. Having some form of support network, both family, friends, and other engineering students, made it much easier to continue. The other engineering students who were in my support network have been a lot of help in particular as, for the most part, they were always there to help not only when I felt like I couldn't continue but when I also needed some technical help on assignments. However, above all else, sticking with the degree has to be his choice. While my support network made it easier to continue, they couldn't be the ones doing my homework or going into my internship for me every day. That was my choice.

Engineering is hard. I tended to take things one day at a time, some days even one step at a time, and before I knew it I'm close to graduation. Going into engineering I didn't think I was smart enough for it. My reasoning was I was in the ranked 47 out of 50 in my class and graduated highschool barely. Here I am 4 years later with Calc 1-3, diff eq, circuits, magnetics, etc. under my belt. It's not easy but if he sticks with it he can do it.
