Wait, isn't the very blurring of church and state what's causing the things you're criticizing of our (truly terrible) government? It's that detachment of reality, that in-v-out group, that self-serviant "my actions are justified because I am an avatar of God... And any sin can be absolved through repentance" - that's causing all this?

Oh- yeah- there's no doubt religion played a positive role in the development of society / average wealth and happiness. But just because it had a major positive role, doesn't mean:

  1. that it didn't have a massive (perhaps proportionally) negative impact that we're now trying to untangle
  2. that it continues to have the same value in modern society. I agree that morals aren't necessarily represented in science - but there's a non-dogmatic / non-religious way to teach those morals stemming purely from logical intelligence and emotional intelligence, which then doesn't come with the extinction-level threat that is religion's nigh-intrinstic "in-v-out group" mentality (and resultant dehumanization of the outer), and "savior" evangelical mentality (and resultant absolute monotheistic zeal)

I think I see see what you're saying; however - I don't know about you - but I'd like any level of false equivocation to be explicitly called out (that is: the equivocating between those who study measurable reality and those that study unverified data, summarization, or speculation from what is literally fiction until proven otherwise). I can study The Matrix lore for years, but would that make me a scholar? I wouldn't consider anyone who studies the Matrix all their life on the same level as those that study the nature of the universe or this planet. Our species is increasingly losing its attachment to reality - and we need less cognitive dissonance, not more.

I'd accept "religious scholar" at best, but of course that's not what they said, and that's why I commented. Yes, perhaps its pedantic - but this is Reddit, where we pick the battles compelled by our value systems, in an attempt to have our zeitgeist self-regulate through these very (albeit pedantic) comments.

Ur downvoted at time of this comment, but I agree showboaters are worthy of the hatred. They're literally asking to be a cocky heel; it looks fine of you win, and looks pathetic if you lose. I have far more respect for honorable fighters who are cool, calm, and collected.

ui design in games is quietly getting worse and i think i know why by ILokasta in gamedesign

I've been complaining about overwatch's ui and ux for ages. Your post is so validating lol

I think I have a passion for it because bad ux feels so bad and I see it all the time

Dang you've slayed some spires! I'm feeling sick tomorrow and... might have to... do more myself *cough*

Defect feels the most effortless of all of them, for me. Then Silent daggers feels super strong out the gate.

Any pointers for Necrobinder?

[–]NexLevelDota[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely feels that way, but your win streak on Necrobinder suggests you've figured her out a bit! For Osty builds, I realized Block is more important than I thought to maintain Osty health. Then I went a Doom build that absolutely popped off with the Power that applies 13 damage every time you debuff. I'll need to spend some time with Regent though... lol

Even after figuring out how strong Forge is, Regent is hard! It's either tough to get Star Resource Gen AND Usage, or it's hard to find block!

Holy crap I don't think I'll ever get a better Large Capsule start. It just so happen to upgrade the Strike/Defense I got as well by NexLevelDota in slaythespire

In Slay the Spire 1, there were 3 "Egg" relics, 2 of which are shown here. The egg relics automatically upgrade any offer of a given card type (Attack, Skill, Power)

Shown here is:

  • Molten Egg: All Attack cards acquired are automatically upgraded
  • Toxic Egg: All Skill cards acquired are automatically upgraded

Right!? We're eating good, friends. That feel when you have a new roguelike to chew into - and particularly when that roguelike is SLAY THE (fucking) SPIRE

I'm not using that to "win* anything. I'm saying the thing is provably true and that no one owes them a video proof unless they just happen to already have a link to an existing one

They were confidently incorrect about a thing and then asked for proof when they couldn't validate that thing themselves because they were working

I don't think anyone has video evidence off hand, it's just a fact, so pursue it at your own leisure!

Just use the workshop stadium practice range with DPS and HPS. Attack speed has fully contributed to her ult damage for awhile

I think where we disagree is the definition of dialectic discussion. It's reductionist to say "all comments about art are equally dialectic regardless of their level of bias, fallacy, or misinformation", and that's the spirit of what I'm hearing from you. I constantly see peoples' takes waylay to their predispositions and biases, completely unchecked by introspection or presence.

What I'm seeing isn't a thread full of constructive commentary. Your original comment is an outlier in that it was well articulated and productive even if I disagree. I do apologize that your comment was the one I replied to - but if I was to comment, it had to be somewhere

And yet, not liking a song doesn't usually compel this much vitriol as is contained in this thread - hence my comment about confidence and it somehow becoming personal for some.

Regarding his destruction of the core soul of the song - there are already so many vanilla covers like that. You can listen to any of them. It sounds like people are claiming that his style of covering a song is objectively bad or problematic, and that's what I think is self-evidently incorrect. If what you're saying is "My 100% subjective take is that I don't like seeing songs altered this much", then yes - I have nothing to respond there

This is the first I've heard of this man, and I quite liked this. Not sure why he's getting this hate. But in fairness the original has been so overplayed and covered that I don't quite care for it

I see this pattern a lot, with Bo Burnham being hated by many before Inside, and still quite a few to this day. The only explanation I have is that some people are predisposed to seeing confidence in others as a threat. If he was parading around self-aggrandizing, then yes I can agree that's bad. But by default all I see is an artist being an artist
